MARVEL AND RANDOM HOUSE BOOKS FOR YOUNG READERS TO PUBLISH BRAND-NEW YOUNG ADULT NOVEL FEATURING X-MEN’S STORM BY BESTSELLING AUTHOR TIFFANY D. JACKSON

Random House Books for Young Readers, an imprint of Random House Children’s Books, in collaboration with Marvel, will publish an exciting take on the origin story of X-Men’s Storm in a brand-new young adult novel written by New York Times bestselling author Tiffany D. Jackson. STORM: DAWN OF A GODDESS is a vivid imagining of Storm’s life as Ororo Munroe before she grew into the fierce super hero revered by millions across the globe. The publication was announced today by Mallory Loehr, EVP & Publisher, Random House Books for Young Readers Group. Michelle H. Nagler, SVP & Publisher, Random House Brands and Graphic, acquired World Rights from Marvel for Random House Book for Young Readers. Tricia Lin, Senior Editor, signed Jackson to the project through Natalie Lakosil of Looking Glass Literary & Media while at Bradford Literary Agency. Lin will edit the book; Jackson is now represented by Jenny Bent at The Bent Agency.

Tiffany D. Jackson is the New York Times bestselling author of GrownMonday’s Not ComingAllegedlyWhite SmokeThe Weight of Blood, and more. A Coretta Scott King–John Steptoe New Talent Award winner and an NAACP Image Award-nominee, Jackson has over a decade of experience in TV and film. In her first foray into speculative fiction, Tiffany D. Jackson provides a breathtaking spin on the beloved icon, telling her story in an authentic, joyful, and powerful way.

“It’s no secret that I grew up loving X-Men, specifically Storm, a Black woman super hero!” said Jackson. “So when this opportunity came about, I jumped, cried, and begged. Research for this book took me into the depths of the Marvel archives to the streets of Cairo, Egypt. Tackling Ororo’s journey, especially for my first fantasy novel, wasn’t easy but was so very worth it.”

“There’s been a dire need for more Black super heroes at the forefront,” says Lin. “Storm has been an icon for generations—especially for women of color—and it’s a pleasure to partner with Marvel in telling her story. We’re thrilled to bring this book to the young readers of today, and we could not have found a better author for the job than Tiffany D. Jackson.”

To kick off book promotion, Jackson will be featured on the Women of Marvel Podcast on October 18, in an episode devoted to Storm. A major marketing and publicity campaign will follow, which includes a five-city author tour at publication.

STORM: DAWN OF A GODDESS is available for preorder now and will also be available as an audiobook from Listening Library.
