New guests announced for rescheduled Portsmouth Comic Con

Following last month“s announcement that Portsmouth Comic Con ”“ International Festival of Comics would be moved back to Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August due to the Covid-19 pandemic, event organisers The Guildhall Trust with partners Tripwire Magazine and GoGeek Events CIC have been working hard to reconfirm content for the new summer dates and are delighted to now announce even more new content!
First up is Phil Hawkins, the Director/Producer of Star Wars: Origins, an ambitious Star Wars/Indiana Jones fan film that has been receiving rave reviews from critics and fans alike. Shot in the Sahara Desert over three years, visitors to the Con (Saturday only) will be treated to a screening of the film followed by a Q&A with Hawkins about the making of the film which was launched at ”˜For the Love of Sci-Fi“ last year.
New guests also confirmed to join the impressive Artists Alley, sponsored by Catawiki, are Phil Buckenham and Paulina Vassileva, who join the likes of previously confirmed guests, Adam Hughes, Brian Froud, Marguerite Sauvage, Troy Alders and P. Craig Russell.
Phil Buckenham is a comic artist and illustrator who has worked in film and TV. His credits include, Metal Made Flesh, Tpubs The Theory and Henge the comic book as well as his creator owned series Valhalla Awaits. Phil is also known for his sketch cover variants and convention sketches and commissions.
Paulina (Pau) Vassileva is a fantasy artist and comics colourist. Based in London, Pau“s favourite themes are fantasy, the dreamy and the intriguing with a hint of ambivalence and a touch of the sensual. She has recently been colouring for Titan Comic“s Rivers of London property and is making two graphic novels, Fantasies of the Enchanted Window and Zvezdanka.
Portsmouth Comic Con is also delighted to announce that popular Facebook community, The Geek Asylum will be in attendance. Rarely seen in the south, this is a chance for people to meet up with those behind the group and find out about their thriving community of like-minded geeks whose interests include sci-fi, fantasy, gaming, anime and cosplay.
Portsmouth Comic Con brings you the best in comics, film, TV and pop culture entertainment, welcoming some of the greatest writers and illustrators in the industry, alongside stars of the screen and the wonderful world of cosplay! With panels, displays, exhibitions, gaming, VR, steampunk and an incredible range of merch and collectables with special features for this year, ”˜She-quential Saturday – A Celebration of Female Superheroes“ and on Sunday, ”˜A World of Witchcraft and Wizardry“.
