Podfest Multimedia Expo 2020 Review
First I’d like to thank Chris Krimitsos and the WHOLE Podfest family for having Comic Crusaders / Undercover Capes at the event! IT was a beautiful and cool weekend in Orlando, Florida when Podfest came into town at the Wyndham Orlando Resort International Drive.
The weekend of March 6th – 8th, I was one of over 1,000 Podcasters, Marketers, YouTubers and more… to be in Orlando for the 5th annual Podfest Multimedia Expo. This year was my first year of attending Podfest and WOW, I walked away with a ton of new tools, tactics, and tricks to help me expand my audience and monetize my podcast/sites. I also met many podcasters from all walks of life in every stage of the podcast game. I spoke to folks who just started, those who have been doing it since the start of podcasting, some with a planned go date to launch! They were all there to network and learn.
I was very inspired and motivated by this experience. The micro panels, which I understand is the first time they do this at Podfest, were fantastic as they were meant for the “independent” podcaster by the independent podcaster to grow and monetize their particular niche/neighborhood. The speakers were all very successful in their space and shared many tips to immediately put into action. This year they also did VidFest, as video is the wave, they had experts speaking on how to monetize your video channels, best practices, tools, etc… The amount of knowledge given at this show is empowering!
The venue itself was great, very roomy and they used EVERY space they had to accommodate the attendees, also the use of the app Whova, made it easy to know and setup your agenda at the show (comic cons take notice this is an app you should use), meet-ups with fellow podcasters, networking opportunities, live podcasts onsite, Podfest updates and schedule changes, ALL was in this handy app!
The networking opportunities were amazing. Meeting all these people and hearing their stories of why they are in the podcasting space will leave you motivated and inspired! The diversity was outstanding! Folks from ALL over the world were there from almost every country so there was tons of fist bumping (shaking hands was not permitted you know why!) and exchange of information, I for one can’t wait to work with many of the folks I’ve met.
I highly encourage you to go next year. I especially encourage you to go if you have not been to a podcasting event before. Make the investment in yourself, you will NOT be disappointed!
SCORE: 5/5
