REVIEW: Extreme Carnage Omega

The cap on this series finally takes the time to live up to it’s name. The violence covers a majority of this book and it’s gorgeously rendered by Manuel Garcia to a point where this issue easily could have been a MAX title.

Philip Kennedy Johnson sets up another Future Foundation brawl, but this is translated far better in comics than anything that film has previously shown.
There’s an assassination attempt thrown in here and a nice jab at the political concept of “white privelege”, so that there is some story layered in to this gore-fest that easily could have been presented without word balloons and still flew off the shelves. To drum up interest into the next run of “Venom”, “Omega” misses that mark, if only for a higher target that it hits right in the bullseye in support of more Carnage stories. Which is not a bad idea, who really wouldn’t want to see Iron Man in a symbiote suit again?

Sometimes it feels like beating a dead horse : Venom’s ominiscient, and Carnage mini’s have been going on since the 90’s, so something has to give. But even though the legs appear wobbly on Johnson Kennedy’s rushed ending, the next “Venom” run is already a must check out ! But “Omega” does this for the entirety of any entertainment caught up in the Venom-adjacent web, and Eddie Brock isn’t even present for one panel ! Flash, Andi, Toxin (and newcomer Sleeper) all pick up the slack and will have even the most die-hard Symbiote-heads wondering if Eddie ever really wore it best.

Yeah, that goofy Sony movie might have introduced the mainstream to the Klyntarian’s , but for those interested in seeing the symbiote’s in real action with heavy stakes while delving into their individual biographies, then “Extreme Carnage” is that book that covers all those bases, making “Omega” the rightful, well done, home run !

Score : 4/5
