Review: Narcos The Rise of the Cartels

Who doesn’t love real time strategy games that are turn based? What if you’re to add a captivating campaign? What if I told you this game is available to play both on PC and console? If these are the types of games that tickle your fancy, then Narcos Rise of the Cartels is the game for you. Placed in the middle of the drug war, you play as either a DEA Agent or The Cartel taking on the DEA. Either way, you’re going to get a complete game with a great story and a new challenge when it comes to turn based RTS games. Developed by Curve Digital, Narcos Rise of the Cartels puts the player into a position, much like playing chess that you truly need to think 4-5 moves ahead in order to achieve your objective.

The controls are rather intuitive, and the game play was relatively easy to pick up. Probably my favorite feature of the game was the fact that at times, if the situation allows, you’re able to get additional moves in to attack while the other side is making their moves. That in itself was the motive for me to take the chance to put myself in position for that possible extra attack. The best way to describe this game is it’s a solid mix of chess with the drug war. The characters models were stiff at times, but that was a minor aspect of the game that bothered me. Aside from that, it’s a solid game.
