The Best Comic Book Films of 2017
2017 was the year of comic book movies and below we have our list of the best films to hit the cinema last year. These were fun and exciting with some films really making their mark at the box office. Marvel and DC Comics lead the way when it comes to the movie franchises and we“ve even seen a number of their leading characters making their way into popular slots games for real money.
9 Top Comic Book Inspired Films 2017Â
 Our list is in no particular order and all the films listed did very well.
- Valerian and The City of A Thousand Planets
This movie was based on the French comic book Valerian and Laureline, and viewers were expecting great things from director Luc Besson. He didn“t disappoint and the film was visually stunning with Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne taking the lead roles.
This film took a number of characters from DC“s best comics and team them up with great success. It was a great superhero movie and a great way to build up the franchise. Some critics weren“t as impressed and felt the movie lacked greatness.
- Atomic Blonde
This film was based on the graphic novel The Coldest City and starred Charlize Theron as one of the best action heroines we“re seen in years. This film was all about the action and the finale was amazing making this one of the best action movies of the year.
- Thor Ragnorok
Thor is back in this third Marvel film to feature Chris Hemsworth in the lead role. Directed by Taika Waititi, Thor Ragnarok had it all including comedy, and Hulk. This was definitely one of our favorite comic book movies of 2017.
- The LEGO Batman Movie
Everyone remembers Batman from the first LEGO Movie and in this new film he didn“t disappoint and any Batman fan would be happy with the storyline. There plenty of funny moments too that referenced the various incarnations of this DC Comic character.
- Guardian of the Galaxy 2
The much anticipated sequel hit cinemas in 2017 and it came with a great story arc with lots of emotion as we saw more of Yondu, Peter, and Rocket. As a sequel it held its own and is one everyone should watch.
- Spider-Man Homecoming
This movie had a lot to live up to with Spider-Man having been around for almost 20 years now. In this new film Peter Parker whilst still being the guy everyone loves, bring something new and fresh to the screen and we can“t wait to see what comes next for this character.
- Wonder Woman
This is perhaps one of the most talked about comic book films of 2017 and Gal Gadot was the perfect person to play Wonder Woman, the Amazon princess. She has been hailed as the greatest female superhero and we have to agree, this film was amazing.
- Logan
This film was Hugh Jackman“s farewell to the role of Wolverine and it is as dramatic and emotionally powerful as any of the movies we“ve seen him in. Logan according to comic book fans is the best one ever made.
