THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK Returns This July
Declared as “the best fantasy comic around” by AIPT, IDW Publishing is proud to announce the return of Hugo Award-winning writer G. Willow Wilson and all-star artist Chris Wildgoose’s acclaimed high fantasy adventure series with THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK: BOOK TWO.
After the success of THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK: BOOK ONE (collected edition on sale 6/11), the creative team is raising the stakes yet again to grip readers with even more action, drama, and romance in a compelling and imaginative world. With the human-orc alliance falling apart and The Last Men Standing in desperate need of a healer, the ruthless Vangol and rogue orc dynasties stoke the flames of war and put everything – and everyone – at risk.
“We’re thrilled by the enthusiastic response to BOOK ONE and we can’t wait for readers to find out what happens in the next arc of this journey,” stated Wilson. “There are some epic battles coming, along with what I hope will be some very satisfying reunions between certain characters. The war for survival teaches you who your real friends and allies are, and in THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK our heroes find those friends in unexpected places.”
Wildgoose said the team is truly going all-out for this tale. “I’m really excited to pull our readers back into our world. I think with BOOK ONE I used the John Hammond line of ‘we’ve spared no expense’ when it came to our set of hot orcs and head chopping. I’d use that line again but with even more confidence.” The artist added, “We’ll be seeing our cast of orcs and men really put to the test as they try to come to grips with the Vangol savagely tearing through the land and their relationships, despite their best efforts. Along with some new characters waiting in the wings I think the readers of BOOK ONE are really going to love it.”
THE HUNGER AND THE DUSK: BOOK TWO #1 (of 6) will include the full creative team from BOOK ONE, featuring colors by MSassyK and letters by Simon Bowland, as well as primary covers by Wildgoose and variants by Cliff Chiang. The debut issue goes on sale 7/10/24 and fans have until 6/3/24 to pre-order at their local comic shop.
