GeekFest FilmFest Review: Von Doom
Von Doom is a GREAT take on the origin of one of Marvel Comics Greatest Villain’s, Dr. Victor Von Doom!Â
No Spoilers: As part of the GeekFest FilmFest review family I have had the pleasure of viewing an short fan-film by Ivan Kander of Lucky 9 Studios, that attempts to show us a version of an origin for Victor Von Doom. Right out the gate I will say WOW, great job! I’ve been a fan of FF for some time and there is no FF without their Arch-Nemesis Dr. Doom! This fan-film gives us insight into the early days of one of Marvel’s Greatest Villains and why he took the direction he did and we also find out his inspiration for his legendary costume!
The film begins at an early stage of young Victors life where he is traveling with his father in the woods of Latveria, unfortunately that leads to events that will forever change young and older Victor. It is an amazingly well done origin story that has a fantastic mix of drama, sci-fi and magic the way only Doom can do it. The producers and actors totally captured the essence of Doom with this short fan film which leads me to believe they must be comic book fans! I would love to see a feature film in this very vain!
I thoroughly enjoyed the film and I recommend any fan of comics to check this out now! 4/5!
