HEMLOCK CIRCLE PRODUCTIONS “BAD MAN” PREMIERED TO A SOLD-OUT CROWD AT SIDEWALK FILM FESTIVAL
The Action Comedy Film Shot Locally In Alabama Stars Seann Willam Scott, Johnny Simmons, Robb Riggle, and the Late Chance Perdomo
BAD MAN, the action comedy film starring Seann William Scott, Johnny Simmons, Robb Riggle, and the late Chance Perdomo, premiered this past weekend to a sold-out audience at the Sidewalk Film Festival in Birmingham, Alabama—where the film was also locally shot.
The directorial debut feature, produced by Hemlock Circle Productions, from writer-director Michael Diliberti marked a homecoming for the filmmaking team. Producers Warner Davis and Todd Friedman have established Birmingham as their production hub, with BAD MAN marking their third film to be shot in the city.

This film also holds added significance as it was Perdomo’s last screen performance, who delivered a memorable turn that audiences won’t soon forget. “It was an honor to be part of Chance’s last film,” said Diliberti. “He was a friend, the life of the set, and boundlessly talented. It’s an irreplaceable loss.”
Like Diliberti’s acclaimed writing debut, 30 Minutes or Less, BAD MAN is inspired by a remarkable true story. In 2008, conman Bill Jakob impersonated a federal agent to “clean up” a small town. The film takes that premise and spins it into a twisty, darkly humorous narrative with Scott taking the role of “Bobby Gaines,” the lead character inspired by Jakob.
“BAD MAN features Seann in a way audiences have never seen before,” said Diliberti of the film’s star. “He crushes both the comedy and the drama—audiences are going to be blown away by his performance.” Scott, best known for his iconic comedic roles, recently made a standout guest appearance on HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones and currently stars in ABC’s new series Shifting Gears.
BAD MAN was acquired by Vertical for distribution and is poised to be a breakout success for Scott, Diliberti, and the producing team. BAD MAN will be released in select theaters on September 5.
