MOVIE REVIEW: LX2048 – Foretelling our Future?

One thing was certain throughout this film, I had a mixture of feelings.

I felt the spectacular, when seeing the futuristic styles and effects of this brilliant world and then I felt the familiar, the feeling of people not talking to each other face to face but rushing to log in to a virtual world instead.

I felt a connection to the world and indeed the main character, Adam Bird.

Straight away I had this ”˜last man alive“ vibe, even though he wasn“t waking the earth physically alone, he was certainly the last person who accepted that live ends, in a world of clones made better than the original there was one man saying ”˜we“re not replaceable but rather the memories we leave are what can live on.“

Given that was how I viewed him and even though I“m not a religious man, I also found the choice in his name rather apt, Adam being the first man and last man through my eyes.

Given the world we live in and the fact that most of us are constantly plugged in whether its on our phones, tablets etc”¦Â  I could see this film forewarning us of things to come.

The world has become colder, people are much more cut off than we are now and the only way to connect is online, like that“s what“s left of us, it“s an extremely sad but not impossible prospect.

Witnessing this life slowly destroying the main character (Played incredibly by James D“Arcy) was both captivating and at the same time soul shattering, seeing his strength and sanity ebbing away as the story moves forward was tough at times but shows the talent on the screen. The moment where he must face himself is one of the highlights for me, beautifully shot and scripted.

There are many layers at work during this whole film, so many subjects intertwined that I“d put money on different people getting different messages or feelings from it that I may not have seen.

If a film can speak on so many levels to so many people, then it“s a story with power and purpose.

The cast is stacked with talent, as previously mentioned James D“Arcy packs a punch as the main Character Adam Bird.

Anna Brewster is sensational in her role as Adam“s hot then cold-hearted wife Reena.

The Tony Award Nominee that is the phenomenal Delroy Lindo wows us as Donald Stein, the man who though has limited screen time is responsible for so much of the storyline.

Gabrielle Cassi is wonderful as a fantasy come to life (Again another amazing perspective).

The talent is on point throughout the whole cast with great scenes from BAFTA winner Gina McKee, Juliet Aubrey and Jay Hayden (Hey what a great surname you have there!)

There“s so much I could say about this film, but I couldn“t do those scenes justice, I“ll finish off by saying this though, should you see this?

YES!
