Movie Review: Zombieland Double Tap

Synopsis:

The movie that asks the magical question: Can you defeat Zombies without guns? The gang is back and funnier than ever, hell even the Columbia logo: Lady Liberty gets involved in the hunt! The film opens with our gang as one big happy family, in the White House, of all places. But all is not well in La La Land. The girls are restless and, even though they“ve been together for ten years, Wichita (Stone) develops cold feet when Columbus (Eisenberg) pops the question. Little Rock (Breslin), being the rambunctious teenager that she is, just wants to get out on her own. So, the girls leave. Enter Madison (Deutch) a cute, but dizzy, blond. Due to a lack of options and the feeling, after about a month of absence, that Wichita isn“t coming back, Columbus does what any red-blooded American male would do when a sexy blond comes on to him. Only Wichita does come back, that night, in fact, to complicate things. It seems that Little Rock has left with a hippie boyfriend, Berkley (what else? Jogia) So the boys and Madison join Wichita to find Little Rock. Tallahassee (Harrelson) just wants to see Graceland.

My Review:

This film is every bit as fun as the first one and the action sequences are well handled. There seems to be a new strain of zombie that“s even deadlier than any they have ever faced. In a stroke of comedic genius, they name the new zombie the T-800 an obvious reference to the upcoming dead on arrival sequel that is Terminator: Dark Fate. In addition to our original gang of misfit zombie hunters, there“s also Madison, which we“ve already mentioned and Nevada (Dawson) the owner of an Elvis Presley inspired motel – spoiler alert – to give Tallahassee a romantic interest. The chemistry is strong between all the leads, even if they stumble on each other a bit too conveniently. Berkley leads Little Rock to a mini Shangri-La that“s untouched by the Zombie outbreak called Babylon. The only catch, if you want to enter Babylon you have to give up your guns, which are then melted. Political message? Nah, I“m not going there, this films to much fun to concentrate on that crap! Besides, the heroes are two straight white males”¦of course, they“re outnumbered by four straight female heroes so”¦Nah, not gonna do it I“ll refrain because this film“s to much fun. Besides besides, we don“t need to tell you what happens when the zombies finally find Babylon. Oh, and Bill Murray“s back! Well, sort of. It turns out that he“s responsible for the Zombie Outbreak by doing a lame part three sequel (and it“s not Ghostbusters!) Luke Wilson and Thomas Middleditch have an inspired cameo that“s reminiscent of the Seinfeld episode Bizarro Jerry. all in all, there“s never a dull moment and this is a sequel every bit as inspired as the original! .
