Shero Comics to Launch Animated Dubs of Young Grandmaster Choi Manhwa on YouTube

Black Girl Magic Heads to Seoul in New Animated Series from Shero Comics

Shero Comics is excited to announce the summer release of its animated book dubs for the award-winning manhwa series, Young Grandmaster Choi. Starting Monday, June 9th, new two-minute dubbed episodes will premiere every Monday on the official Shero Comics YouTube channel throughout the summer.

The animated dubs are a bite-sized, kid-friendly adaptation of the comic book series, designed to introduce young viewers to the world of Young Grandmaster Choi in an accessible and engaging way. Each episode features voiceover narration, sound effects, and stylized panel animation that brings the comic pages to life.

Young Grandmaster Choi follows the story of Rayven Johnson, a six-year-old African-American army brat who moves to South Korea after the loss of her parents and discovers her passion for martial arts. The series, which explores themes of identity, grief, and cultural discovery, has been praised by educators, librarians, and parents for its diverse representation and empowering message.

“This is a fun way to bring our stories to life for kids,” says Shequeta Smith, CEO and founder of Shero Comics. “We wanted to give young audiences a fresh way to connect with Rayven’s journey and experience her strength, curiosity, and resilience—one episode at a time.”

In addition to the YouTube series, Shero Comics is also offering the Shero Comics Summer Bootcamp, a virtual six-week program designed to teach kids ages 7–12 how to write, create, AND animate their own comic books. Led by founder Shequeta Smith, the bootcamp empowers young creators to develop original stories, characters, and artwork while learning the fundamentals of visual storytelling.

Fans can support the series by visiting www.sherocomics.com to purchase Young Grandmaster Choi books, dolls, coloring books, and merchandise. Viewers can also support future episodes via Patreon at www.patreon.com/sherocomics
