This one creeps in quiet… then clamps down and doesn’t let go. 🩸🌩️
Written and directed by Martín Mauregui, this chilling horror experience comes backed by serious cinematic muscle, with Academy Award–nominated filmmaker J.A. Bayona (The Orphanage, The Impossible, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) serving as executive producer. And leading the nightmare? Absolute screen royalty Spanish film legend Carmen Maura, delivering a performance that’s as unsettling as it is unforgettable.
The story centers on Pedro (played by Daniel Hendler), a regular guy just trying to do a favor. Late one night, during a violent storm, he gets a call from his ex-girlfriend. She’s desperate. She needs help. All he has to do is spend the night watching her senile mother, Alicia (Maura). Simple. Temporary. Harmless… or so it seems.
What starts as an awkward but manageable situation quickly spirals into pure psychological terror.
Alicia isn’t just confused she’s unpredictable, manipulative, and terrifyingly in control. The house becomes a trap. The rules keep changing. And when Pedro realizes Alicia has no intention of letting him leave, survival becomes the only objective. Trapped inside, cut off from help, Pedro is forced to play along with Alicia’s increasingly sadistic mind games, where every wrong move could be his last.
This isn’t horror built on cheap jump scares it’s claustrophobic, slow-burning dread, the kind that crawls under your skin and tightens with every scene. The storm outside mirrors the chaos within, and the line between caregiver and captive completely collapses.
On a stormy evening, Pedro answers a desperate call from his ex-girlfriend, asking him to look after her senile mother, Alicia. What begins as a simple act of kindness becomes a nightmare when Alicia refuses to let him leave. Locked inside the house and at the mercy of her cruel games, Pedro must endure the night and outwit his captor if he hopes to survive.
Anchored by a haunting performance from Carmen Maura and guided by Mauregui’s razor-sharp direction, this film is a brutal reminder that sometimes the most terrifying monsters don’t hide in the dark… they live in plain sight.
Stormy night. Locked doors. No escape. This is psychological horror done right. WEPA. 😈🏠
