UNEARTHED FILMS LAUNCHES ANIMATION ARM UNEARTHED ANIMATION WITH STOP-MOTION HORROR/COMEDY THE OLD MAN: THE MOVIE

TO BE RELEASED IN NORTH AMERICA AUGUST 9, 2022 ON DVD AND BLU-RAY
The Milk-pocalypse Is Upon Us! Pandemonium Ensues When ‘The Old Man’ and His Grandchildren Have 24 Hours to Find His Cow Before the Un-milked Udder Explodes and Causes a Milk-core Disaster for the Town.
Unearthed Films, distributor of independent genre films, which is celebrating their 20th year as the “go-to” place for discerning fans of the weird and wonderful, has launched a new animation specialty arm called Unearthed Animation, announced Stephen Biro, CEO, Unearthed Films and Unearthed Animation.
The first project to be released under the new banner is the award-winning Estonian stop-motion feature comedy/horror title “The Old Man: The Movie.” The film is based on the popular Estonian web series “The Old Man” created by Peeter Ritso and Mikk Mägi. “The Old Man: The Movie” will be released on August 9 on DVD and Blu-ray with both the original language in Estonian with English subtitles and the new English dub from Jimmy ScreamerClauz and pals.
In “The Old Man: The Movie,” three children from the city are forced to spend the summer on their grandfather’s farm in a remote Estonian village. When the trio accidentally set loose the old man’s prized but thoroughly abused cow, they learn that they have only 24 hours to milk the rogue bovine before its exponentially expanding udders explode and unleash a milk-pocalypse. To complicate this crisis, a decrepit and disgraced farmer with a body literally infused with milk and a prejudice against cattle is also determined to catch the animal, but with murderous intent.
“Unearthed Films has successfully released numerous animation titles over the years. With our releases of ‘Rock & Rule,’ ‘Where The Dead Go to Die,’ ‘City of Rott,’ ‘Mecanix,’ and ‘Dead Fury,’ we decided to start a dedicated distribution arm called Unearthed Animation to showcase wonderfully demented and outrageous animation, glorious stop motion films, and to give the fans something unique and fun to watch over and over again,” said Biro.
“The Old Man: The Movie” was directed by Mikk Mägi and Oskar Lehemaa, and produced by Veiko Esken, Erik Heinsalu, Mikk Mägi and Tanel Tatter, with animation by Sander Joon, Egert Kesa, Jelizaveta Musnikova, Mikk Mägi, Linda Nõmmik, Peeter Ritso, Triin Sarapik-Kivi, Olga Stalev, Ottomar Sukko and Henri Kaido Veermäe.
“’The Old Man: The Movie’ is such a unique and hilarious film that has to be seen to be believed. We painstakingly dubbed it in house for English speaking audiences. The original Estonian language is amazing but we decided to dub it so it would reach a wider audience. The film deserves it. I am very proud of the work we have done to showcase the film for North American viewers. I have personally never watched a film like this, it had me rolling on the floor. With ‘The Old Man: The Movie” an instant adult-animation cult classic is born,” added Biro.
The deal was negotiated by Biro for Unearthed Films/Unearthed Animation, and by Marco Magni of Eurooscura on behalf of BOP Animation and Apollo Film Productions.
