WONDERCON 2024: The Legendary Bill Sienkiewicz: A Career-Spanning Interview

Legendary Artist Bill Sienkiewicz to Discuss Groundbreaking Career and THE LAB PRESS’ ESSENTIALS with Emmy-nominated Writer/Producer Chris “Doc” Wyatt

Legendary artist Bill Sienkiewicz has illustrated iconic comics including New Mutants, Elektra: Assassin, Moon Knight, and Stray Toasters. At WonderCon, he’ll join Emmy-nominated writer and producer Chris “Doc” Wyatt at WonderCon to discuss his groundbreaking career as a cartoonist and designer.

The Legendary Bill Sienkiewicz: A Career-Spanning Interview” will take place at WonderCon on Saturday March 30, 2024 from 2:00pm – 3:00pm PDT in Room 300E.

From his groundbreaking work on such projects as Marvel’s Elektra: Assassin, Daredevil: Love & War, and New Mutants to his genre-bending indie works such as Stray Toasters and Voodoo Child: The Illustrated Legend of Jimi Hendrix, Bill Sienkiewicz has spent decades as a trailblazing artist who disrupted and upended the entire comic scene. Channeling abstract and expressionist influences to create edgy, subjective visual storytelling, Bill has won numerous awards as well as the enthusiastic acclaim of his fellow artists. This wide-ranging conversation will cover his early days on Moon Knight and Fantastic Four, through to his Emmy-nominated TV design work and his contributions on-set and doing promotional artwork for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Batman, Dune, Moon Knight series , 2018 Halloween remake , Logan, The Grinch, The Green Mile, and Unforgiven. Conducting the interview is indie film producer and TV animation writer Chris “Doc” Wyatt (Napoleon Dynamite, Marvel’s Spider-Man, Transformers: Botbots, Batman Unlimited, Lego Ninjago: Dragons Rising).

The WonderCon panel follows the recent announcement of THE LAB PRESS and their first ever graphic novel, ESSENTIALS, which is co-written by Chris “Doc” Wyatt and Luke Arnold, the novelist and acclaimed Black Sails actor, and features a stunning premiere edition cover by Sienkiewicz. The book follows the adventures of a shotgun-wielding scientist who sets out to save the world, and has an ambitious array of all-star comic artists: Glenn Fabry (Preacher), Jason Howard (Transformers), Vince Locke (A History of Violence), Brendan McCarthy (Spider-Man: Fever), Andrea Mutti (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), M.K. Perker (Air), and DaNi (Sandman: The Dreaming). The start-up publisher has launched a pre-launch page for the ESSENTIALS Kickstarter campaign, where you can go now and select to be the first to be notified when the project launches this spring.

There will be special giveaways from THE LAB PRESS for fans who attend “The Legendary Bill Sienkiewicz: A Career-Spanning Interview.”

“THE LAB PRESS is focused on creating a space for writers and artists to be audacious with their wildest ideas, telling subversive stories with mind-blowing art,” said THE LAB PRESS Editor-in-Chief Dagen Walker. “It’s hard to imagine an artist more audacious or in touch with what we want to do than the great Bill Sienkiewicz.”
