Kolchak: The Night Stalker Gets Its First-Ever Action Figures on Kickstarter
Solve Supernatural Crimes and Face Off Against Paranormal Foes with First- Ever 1/12 Scale Carl Kolchak and the vampire Skorzeny Action Figures!
Indie toy fans and monster hunters, get ready—because something legendary is rising out of the shadows and landing straight on collector shelves. Fan-favorite indie toy powerhouse Wandering Planet Toys is teaming up with publisher Monstrous to unleash the FIRST EVER officially licensed action figures of Carl Kolchak and his infamous vampire nemesis, Janos Skorzeny. That’s right—after decades of cult love and supernatural storytelling, the legendary paranormal reporter from KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER is finally getting the action figure treatment, and fans can jump in right now by backing the campaign on Kickstarter.
Since bursting onto the scene in 1972, Carl Kolchak has become one of weird fiction’s most beloved underdog heroes—an unstoppable reporter chasing monsters, conspiracies, and supernatural chaos through the classic TV movies THE NIGHT STALKER and THE NIGHT STRANGLER, followed by the iconic cult TV series that inspired generations of paranormal storytelling. Now, the fearless investigator who made battling vampires look like investigative journalism is stepping out of the pages of Jeff Rice’s original novel and into the world of collectible figures with a stunning 6-inch deluxe collectible release.
The Carl Kolchak Single Figure arrives as a 1/12 scale modern deluxe figure loaded with collector love. With 22 points of articulation, two interchangeable heads (with hat and without), multiple hands, and classic accessories like Kolchak’s typewriter, camera, tape recorder, and crucifix, fans can recreate all the iconic monster-hunting moments from the original story that started it all.
But the indie toy crew at Wandering Planet didn’t stop there.
Collectors looking to capture the most intense moment in Kolchak history can grab the BLOOD-SPLATTERED KOLCHAK VS THE NIGHT STALKER Two-Figure Pack, which brings the showdown to life with a blood-spattered variant of Kolchak alongside the terrifying 1/12 scale vampire Janos Skorzeny, recreating their legendary final battle. And because true collectors know presentation matters, Wandering Planet is also dropping an exclusive Kolchak Collectable Metal Lunchbox, the first ever retro-style tin lunchbox inspired by the character, featuring artwork from Monstrous’ Kolchak comic series by Colton Worley.
For Wandering Planet co-founder Chris “Doc” Wyatt, this project has been a dream waiting to happen.
“From the very beginning of Wandering Planet we’ve always had Kolchak on our wish list of official licensed figures we wanted to create,” Wyatt explains. “We’ve wanted the irascible Carl investigating supernatural cases on our toy shelves for years. We’re incredibly grateful to our partners at Monstrous for helping turn this collector dream into reality—not just for us, but for toy fans everywhere.”
The legend of Kolchak traces back to 1972, when legendary novelist and screenwriter Richard Matheson (I Am Legend) adapted Jeff Rice’s novel into the record-breaking TV movie THE NIGHT STALKER, starring Darren McGavin. The story introduced audiences to Carl Kolchak’s first terrifying encounter with the supernatural as he tracked a murderous Las Vegas vampire known as The Night Stalker—Janos Skorzeny.
That unforgettable showdown sparked a cultural phenomenon that has inspired decades of stories across television, comics, and prose. In recent years, Kolchak has roared back into pop culture thanks to Monstrous’ Kolchak: The Night Stalker – 50th Anniversary Graphic Novel, featuring work from comic legends like Peter David, Jonathan Maberry, Marco Finnegan, Warwick Cadwell-Johnson, and more. The adventure continues with the upcoming Kolchak Meets the Classic Monsters series featuring creators such as David Dastmalchian, Rodney Barnes, George Quadros, and other powerhouse storytellers. And now, the legacy expands again with Kolchak Eras, a new short story collection featuring acclaimed writers like James Aquilone, David Avallone, and Jim Beard.
Now, after decades of haunting stories and supernatural investigations, Carl Kolchak is finally stepping out of the shadows and onto collector shelves.
Wandering Planet co-founder Gavin Hignight says that’s exactly why Kolchak remains such an enduring hero.
“I absolutely love a hero who’s down on his luck but still does the right thing because it’s the right thing,” Hignight says. “Someone who keeps pushing forward, saves the day, and defeats evil despite everything stacked against them. Carl Kolchak is that hero. I’m thrilled to work with Monstrous to bring our favorite underdog monster hunter from the page to your toy collection.”

Wandering Planet Toys has already built a reputation in the indie collectible world with successful crowdfunded figures featuring icons like Laurel & Hardy, the cult classic series The Prisoner, and the first officially licensed Nancy Drew action figures. Now they’re adding another legend to their lineup.
If you’re a fan of classic horror, cult television, indie comics, or just love seeing passion projects come to life, this is one Kickstarter campaign you won’t want to miss.
To support the campaign and bring Carl Kolchak home to your collection, head over to Kickstarter and follow Wandering Planet Toys on X, Bluesky, Instagram, and Facebook for updates as the Night Stalker rises once again.
