Hellboy and Mezco have a deep relationship that goes back many moons. This One:12 Collective figure continues to build on that love. This version of Hellyboy received mixed results on film, but make no mistake, this figure is one Mezco’s best produced property-based figures. Let’s dive in and examine him a bit more in depth.
Regardless if you want this figure with a jacket on or off, you are getting a cool looking figure. The sculpt on the head is great. The filed down horns look tremendous, and the facial hair and hair are very well done. I will say the likeness is spot on as well. The bare red chest looks beefy and spot on, and the jacket just gives the overall presence of one bad ass demon. The red hand of doom is sculpted great, and the belt at the waste has an incredible amount of detail to it as well. The pants look great, and the black boots just add that little extra to the character. And let’s not forget the tail. A very nice little touch added to the figure.
In terms of articulation, the 2019 Hellboy functions as well as any standard One:12 figure. His head has a good amount of movement, but I do wish he could look up more. The diaphragm joints at the upper and lower body allow Hellboy to move around with ease, which is always nice when you need Hellboy to smash some monsters around. His arms are single jointed. To those crazy articulation nuts, this is always a complaint, but I am a little easier to please, so it’s not an issue for me. His tail has a bendy wire for posing but be careful as it could break down the line. The legs have a full range of motion. He can basically do the splits, kick forwards and backwards, and has double bends at his knees. He has boot rotation, and the ball peg at the feet allow that boot to hinge up and down and rock side to side.
For accessories, Hellboy has a lucky horseshoe which is good looking. The gun case has a nice wood look to it which blows my mind. He comes with a customized handgun and revolver as well. The revolver has a rotating barrel. Add to that, you get an alternate angry head as well. And of course, eight interchangeable hands for punching monsters and humans square in the jaw. Overall Mezco smashes the monster hunting agent of the law in spectacular fashion. It really is no surprise that they did a phenomenal job on this 2019 movie release. Mezco continues to showcase why they are an amazing company that makes amazing products. I hope you enjoyed the review, and I hope you enjoy the photos below.
