At the center of the madness is Everly “Ev” Espada, a regular fourteen-year-old girl whose life gets obliterated in one terrifying moment. One night, while walking home, Ev witnesses her favorite teacher, Father Serrano, being lifted into the air and torn apart by something invisible. Running on instinct and adrenaline, she grabs a nearby pipe, swings for dear life, and shatters the illusion hiding the monster. With one desperate hit, she kills the demon.

And just like that, her normal life is dead too.

By slaying one of Earth’s Thirteen Hidden Demons, Ev triggers an ancient covenant that marks her as the next demon hunter. And Saspy sounds just as emotionally locked in, bringing a personal connection to Ev’s journey that could give this book even more punch on the page.
