Nicolas Turinski and Da Chronic Tales didn’t creep onto the scene — they kicked the door open. The project grabbed national attention with a feature in Leaf Nation, landing just three spots below Wiz Khalifa. That’s not luck. That’s momentum. Now Turinski is taking that heat into the comic book world with a counterculture Kickstarter that refuses to play by industry rules.
Living with late-stage neurological Lyme disease, Turinski is currently undergoing bee venom therapy while continuing to create. Let that sink in. While fighting for his health, he’s building a universe fueled by satire, rebellion, and sharp humor. Da Chronic Tales takes aim at the hypocrisy of prohibition and broader social injustice, wrapping heavy truths in animated comedy that actually makes you laugh while you think.
The series has already proven itself. Episode One earned two awards, including Audience Choice at FICC and Best Animation at PLCCFF. Now Turinski is leveling up by adapting Episode Two, Gangsta Pets, into a full comic book. The Kickstarter for Da Chronic Tales: Gangsta Pets launches April 7.
This next chapter drops us into a twisted small-town world where Nici and Ronnie step out to hustle — and the animal gangster underground steps in to seize control. Nebraska’s not called NeBLASTYA for nothing. The streets are heating up, the animal kingdom is in chaos, and a turf war is brewing with real consequences for everyone involved. It’s absurd. It’s sharp. It’s counterculture chaos with heart. Once funded, production will be handled by Nouveau Studios, led by Avery Bailey — the talent who single-handedly animated Episode One. The quality bar is already set.
Turinski runs this entire campaign using adaptive technology, including voice-to-text and AI tools, due to limited use of his hands. That alone tells you everything about the drive behind this project. Backing this campaign isn’t just supporting a comic. It’s fueling resilience. It’s amplifying a marginalized voice in the comic book space. It’s proof that creativity doesn’t bow to circumstance. Da Chronic Tales isn’t just about exposing prohibition.
It’s about refusing to quit.
