Story Thus far:
Ro Meadows a struggling young artist, has rented a house purported to be haunted. After one of her artist Blocked sessions, glass of wine has been laid out for her and waiting for her. Moreover, she hears music playing from her studio. During one of her Artist Tantrums over an upcoming deadline and a lack of production, Ro hears a voice imploring her to stop. At first Ro was frightened to the point of running out of the house, but now she has been having full on conversations with the ghost. Even to the point that the ghost has given her an idea to paint what she thinks the ghost looks like.
In the current issue of the Me You Love in the Dark, Ro Meadows continues to have conversations with the “Ghost”. However, there are some indications that it is not just a ghost. As it refers to itself as an ancient thing. Whatever it is, it has been serving a distraction away from Ro’s artwork. As the months tick by she seems to have forgotten all about the deadline. What is even more intriguing is the question of whether this dark old thing is even real
Art:
Efficiently creepy. The art team headed by Jorge Corona; colors by Jean-Francoic Bealieu; lettering by Joel Enos & Kent Wagenschutz. There are hints of a larger story Tucked away into little details of the panels. Up front and center for the me you love in the Dark is the Darkness Entity, but in fact the house itself maybe the true star here.
Script:
Written by Skotties Young. The Me You Love in the Dark has a Paranormal Romance vibe and going with that for a comic book is a bold move I must admit. Also keeping pace is the inter-dialogue between Ro and the Darkness. Where there are no longer hints but big billboard signs point to greater meaning.
Speculation:
ME YOU LOVE IN THE DARK #3 only had the one cover done by Jorge Corona. Meanwhile, speculators are waiting for the TPB to see how the story shakes out, as a result the first issue 1:25 incentive can be found on third party sellers for relatively cheap. Ghost story adaptations have come and gone, but I really have not been aware of that many Ghosts Romance stories of note.
