ADVANCE REVIEW: Your Pal Archie #1

It’s said that certain things jog a memory better than most. This is true with certain songs, smells, tastes. Those little things that ignite that spark. This book was one of those. Growing up a comic book fan, (and admittedly a ginger) there was no way I didn’t read Archie as a child. But it’s one of those things that simply got buried.  It all came back to me quickly enough through the storytelling of Ty Templeton and Dan Parent.

Each complimented the other perfectly; from the flow of the individual stories to the artwork. The working in of an updated style to such classic characters but still keeping that feel was a relief. The dialogue, the expressions, the interactions.. it all worked and it brought me back, and for that I thank you.

The best thing about memories though? Making them. This very well could be some child’s first Archie book, and they will not be disappointed. They will enjoy it, laugh at the jokes, enjoy the surprises and that impression will not be lost by them. I can say that with the utmost honesty as I’m living proof.

One last perk of this title that needs mentioning is the linking variant covers which any fan of the Archie universe is going to want to make a necessity by the looks of them. Pop’s never looked better.  Four out of five stars.
