Based on the character created by Jean-Claude Forest.
Cover-
Simple, elegant, thought provoking. Well done, Carla Cohen.
Story Line-
Action, adventure, thrilling approach to sci-fi. Fun and interesting, with just the right portion of ambiguity. Clear cutting the fray leaving the prime destination in purview. Flawless. Proper story advancement while leaving room for the next, which is steady and brings along the reader nicely. The calls to humanity help ground this spaceship.
Visuals-
Beautiful. A very talented orchestration, page for page. The tint-alteration representing a memory was superb. The array of angles at varying distances truly added depth to the already ~heavy~ dialogue, a great reinforcement to the prose.
Writing-
Got a great feel for each character, namely personality. I enjoyed NOT dredging through cumbersome text, but ACTUALLY having bubbles full of strategic pace keeping tones which made the experience easy, and fun, ergo, comfortably reading and learning.
Thoughts-
Fun, beautiful, interesting, and fulfilling. Cuts straight to the bone. Solid use of balance between image and text. A subtle depth between the lines, which is always welcome. There was an instance I didn’t follow so well, as if a page was missing, but beyond that, I liked the experience. Having aliens and of the like deal with very human problems has a intriguing notion that isn’t easily dispelled, but I feel the prose did as fair as anyone can in doing so. This brings the thought that what we consider ‘human’ may just be intellect, consciousness, sentience that isn’t bound to merely those soul-bearing humans, but to all those capable of gaining such mental degrees of life– advancement, or otherwise. If there is life out there, why wouldn’t it share our inner processing, and experiences? Our joys, our woes; our understanding and response to…
All in all, 4 out of 5.
