REVIEW: Catalyst Prime Accell #18

In the previous issue Catalyst Prime Accell #17  it was determined that the same condition that gave Santos his speed has been progressing at an exponential rate and will continue until he probably goes nuclear, or kills him or both.  But fortunately he was able to figure something out enough to keep him stable for the time being.

In the current issue Catalyst Prime Accell #18, follows along the same line and normally that would be a  blasé character arc for me, but with De Santos already being an established as an amazing protagonist who can do amazing things, Joe Casey decided to take the arc in a different direction.  You see Casey has made a career out of developing and writing complex supporting characters in a number of projects, including Days of Future Past #2-3, Children of the Atom #1-6, and Gødland.

What Joe Casey has down pat is the concept that even the best of protagonists can“t carry your entire story. You need a cast of supporting characters who are every bit as complex, rounded, and interesting in their own right. Of course, your protagonist needs a mom or grandmother or a friend that you have a complicated relationship or a cast of villains that are tied to you in a complicated way, so you stick them into the story.  But the sad part is many writers get no farther than that in planning these incredibly important characters which is where Accell continues to succeed.

Para Adelante ! Para arriba! y Poquito Mas! ACCELL!
