REVIEW: Letter 44 #19

Writer – Charles Soule
Art – Alberto Jiménez Alburquerque
Colours – Dan Jackson
Letters – Crank!

Don’t judge a book by its cover…Cartoonish looking half metal guy. Simple background. It’s eye catching. Very 90’s looking.

A long, long time ago in the last issue…World War III wages on and they’re not gonna let something a trivial as an Earth destroying asteroid stand in their way. Luckily the U.S. Has a satellite with a laser that can stop it. Unfortunately the AFE forces have sent nuclear missiles to destroy it. Oh no, who will save the planet now??

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming…We get a lot of switching between the U.S., Russia and the Chanderlier a space station on the asteroid belt. Lots of infighting and arguments between everyone involved. Without knowing the characters it’s hard to tell whose side to be on. The U.S. tricked Russia into thinking the Asteroid will hit them in order to get them to fight Germany. It’s a bit of a mess of an issue to join the story. But hey, talking baby.

It’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye…Only get a little scuffle between the members of the Chanderlier.

The Good, the Bad and the Meh…
The Good – The art is great. The idea of having to deal with a world war and an major disaster is pretty neat.
The Bad – It’s a little far in to jump onboard.
The Meh – The super powered guy seems unneeded.

Overall not my cup of tea. So only a 2 star for this one.

Hey, I'm Shane.
Been into comics since I was about 5. Loved watching Wonder Woman and superboy in the 80's.
I Started reading seriously about 10 years ago. Began to collect a few comic series, Wonder Woman, Supergirl, Batgirl, Teen Titans, Justice League of America and Superman Batman all pre flashpoint. Being honest that was my favourite run.
