- Caught in the middle of a Vega System civil war, a powerless Supergirl struggles to rescue as many slaves as she can from the brutal hands of the Citadel.
- 1st appearance of Ryand’r , brother of Starfire.
- 1st Appearance of the General Hokum Kryptonian Super-Army.
In the previous issue Supergirl #26, Kara who has limited power left due to not being exposed to the sun in a while had been held captive, by an army led by General Hokum, and it seems her captors have taken a sample from he in an attempt to breed new Kryptonian children. Eventually, Kara uses the powers that she has after being powered up by Splyce. to lead a prisoner uprising The group fights through the prison until they suddenly come across some friends of the Omega Men. Several friends that they believed to be dead were there with no explanation.
In the current issue of Supergirl #27, we are in the midst of the escape from the prison. But despite Kara’s best efforts one of the prisoners dies, her frustration and anger feeds a lust for vengeance that I haven’t really seen in Supergirl before. That lust for vengeance, powers the Axe of Rogol Zaar (1st appearance Action Comics 1000), but manage to the her thirst at bay, right before escaping on the Omega Men’s ship. On board the friend’s of the Omega Men that they believed to be dead were there with no explanation are revealed to be clones using Kryptonian tech controlled by General Hokum. The thing is not only have they cloned the dead colleagues, they have cloned Supergirl as well, resulting in General Hokum’s private Super Army.
Supergirl Vol 7 #27 comes in two covers; Cover A Regular Yanick Paquette ; Cover B Variant Emanuela Lupacchino Cover. Cover B is definitely my favorite of the two (Est. Print Run 10,000).
