The Eighth is as “an original series set in a small dying town run by bad people. in the town is a trio of teenagers David Wells and Emma Adachi, and Atticus who are trying their best to survive another day up until David finds a morphing object that seems to be connected to Ancient Sumerian, and an Alien world. But the crazy thing is that the object endows him with the ability to clean up the town a little bit. Which he does but he insists on using and following a strict code of morals. Chief among his beliefs was punishing those who earned it and helping his family and allies. Early in the series, he develops a romantic love interest in his childhood friend Emma.
The main point of issue #1 is to establish David“s background story; the object as a cosmic entity predating recorded history; initiate the realization of the object ability to morph along with David“s intent on revenge with full control of his powers. With it he possesses supernatural strength and stamina as well as deadly claws. When in a battle, The Sumerian object wielders envelop their whole bodies in a mystical armor of a shadowy metal. This gives them strength and durability beyond that of their host as well as razor sharp fingers and bladed tendrils emerging from their shoulders.
Featuring “I can’t believe they went there” art from Joris Evers, The Eighth: Letting Everyone Down is packed with action and keeps you reeled in with the mysterious connection between ancient history and Aliens. So, this book could go anywhere. The 8th is a little sexually gratuitous at some points, and the violence is way off the charts from what I normally see in comic books, But I’ll give it a pass because I understand the funding limitations, and how quickly he has to get the point across. I do wish he had more time and more funding to get this done. I think with a bigger budget he could slow down and fully develop the narrative and give more time to character development, making it perfect I do think this has a future god forbid if it could get more energy behind it, and that this could definitely be something and with and Lawson“s YouTube original series he has proven that he has the ability to push this book and do something more.
