G“Day Crusaders,
This is Dodgy in the mix bringing you Tom ”˜N“ Artie #1 by Robert Livingston, art by Chunlin Zhao, letters by Micah Myers and layout edits by Nik Virella.
This is a buddy story with two anthropomorphic multidimensional mercenaries, Tom who is the much taller level-headed unicorn and Artie the shorter mischievous rabbit character. These mercs-for-hire are looking for their next payday, from the opening pages we see them in action taking out much more fierce enemies which means outlines Tom ”˜N“ Artie are no pushovers and are a potential threat to other mercenaries looking to make a quick dime!
If you are a sci-fi comic fan like myself you are in for a treat!
I really like the pacing in this book as there are some larger beautifully illustrated panels however there is still a story being and I really appreciated the dialogue from all characters throughout which pieced the story together.
I find the dynamic between Tom ‘N’ Artie are engaging due to their different personalities which may lead to potential conflicts and their actions to be unpredictable. Zhao’s art is flawless with a slight resembles Jeff Smith’s Bone which the animated characters like Tom and Artie then strong detail to human characters and backgrounds, this book is gorgeous from first glance which makes it more appealing to the all ages group. If Zhao’s art seemed familiar.. see James Roche’s Wretches: https://www.comiccrusaders.com/kickstarter-focus-wretches-1/Â
