Shaolin Cowboy Returns to End the War Again

Geof Darrow is back, baby, and the legend of the Shaolin Cowboy rides again with all the madness, mayhem, and beautifully chaotic action fans have been starving for. Dark Horse Comics is unleashing Shaolin Cowboy: Staying A.I.Live, throwing readers right back into the former monk’s brutal, bizarre, and gloriously unpredictable journey across a savage landscape where every step feels like a fistfight with destiny.

This time around, Darrow links up with colorist Ian Herring and letterer Nate Piekos to bring even more flavor, grit, and eye-melting style to a world that’s already famous for its insane detail, off-the-wall energy, and brain-bending humor. And let’s be real—when Geof Darrow pulls up, you already know the art is gonna hit like a roundhouse kick dipped in chaos. On top of that, this series is flexing hard with variant covers from Peach Momoko, Daniel Warren Johnson, Ryan Ottley, Dave Johnson, Gilbert Hernandez, David Mack, Adi Granov, and Paul Chadwick. Yeah… this one is stacked.

In Shaolin Cowboy: Staying A.I.Live, the wandering ex-monk gets hit with an ice-cold welcome after leaving his wasteland hideout for what starts as a mission of mercy. Guided by the thoughtful wisdom of a desert swallow and a horned toad—both endangered species—the Cowboy heads straight into trouble. And in true Shaolin Cowboy fashion, that trouble is loud, ridiculous, dangerous, and dripping with satirical venom. Once he rolls into a classic AMERIGUNN small town, he finds out real quick that “hospitality” ain’t exactly on the menu, and surviving may be the hardest joke of all.

Bottom line? Shaolin Cowboy: Staying A.I.Live looks ready to deliver everything longtime fans love—over-the-top action, razor-sharp weirdness, stunning art, and that signature Darrow brand of beautiful comic book insanity.

Fans can pre-order Shaolin Cowboy: Staying A.I.Live #1 (of 4) before it crashes into comic shops on July 1, 2026 for $4.99.
