This June, legendary creators Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert team up to tell the grittiest Spider-Man comic story of the modern age, co-starring Punisher and Hulk, in SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME.
Comic fans… buckle up, because Marvel is about to unleash a three-way collision of pure chaos this summer and trust me, Crusaders, this one looks absolutely wild.
SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME is coming in hot, a brutal five-issue limited series from two absolute comic book legends: Jonathan Hickman and Adam Kubert. And when these two get together, you already know something epic is about to happen. This time around, Spider-Man, Punisher, and Hulk are all racing toward the same prize a missing Cosmic Cube and let’s just say nobody’s playing nice.
If the vibe reminds you of 2024’s Wolverine: Revenge by Hickman and Greg Capullo, that’s not an accident. Like that smash hit, SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME lives just outside the main Marvel continuity. That means the creators are free to go big, go bold, and tell a story that’s timeless, explosive, and completely unrestrained by the usual rules of the Marvel Universe. And the setup? Oh yeah… it’s a doozy. This story takes place in a world before the Punisher became the Punisher, where the Hulk is still more rumor than reality, and where the shadowy organization A.I.M. has secretly created a Cosmic Cube deep in the jungles of South America. Now three very different men are heading straight into the storm.
Frank Castle. Bruce Banner. Peter Parker.
Each of them has their own mission to keep the Cube from falling into the wrong hands… including each other’s. What follows is a high-stakes, no-rules, cosmic power struggle where Spider-Man, Hulk, and Punisher are locked in a brutal race for one of the most dangerous artifacts in the Marvel Universe. In a fight like this, mercy is in short supply and the question isn’t just who wants the Cube…
It’s who survives long enough to take it. Hickman himself couldn’t hide his excitement about the project, saying he’s thrilled to reunite with Kubert for the series and promising readers that “absolutely no one is going to see this one coming.” Meanwhile, Kubert was all in the second he heard the pitch.
According to the legendary artist, Marvel editor Jordan D. White barely finished explaining the idea before he shouted “Yes!” to the project. A five-issue Hickman saga featuring Spider-Man, Hulk, and Punisher? That’s the kind of comic opportunity artists dream about. Kubert also teased the explosive visuals fans can expect, with Frank Martin on colors bringing the mayhem to life. Marvel has also revealed Kubert’s main cover, alongside a slick foil variant by Dave Johnson, plus an early look at interior artwork that promises plenty of high-impact action.
Bottom line, Crusaders:
Three legends. One Cosmic Cube. Zero mercy.
SPIDER-MAN: LONG WAY HOME arrives in comic shops this summer, and if you love big, bold Marvel storytelling with no limits, this is one series you’ll definitely want on your pull list.
