Nothing will prepare fans for the most-anticipated Invincible Universe showdown yet. Today Skybound and Image Comics shared a first look at Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #9. The next killer installment of the hit series from co-creator/writer Robert Kirkman (Skinbreaker, Void Rivals), co-creator/artist Ryan Ottley (The Amazing Spider-Man), colorist Annalisa Leoni (Cobra Commander), and letterer Rus Wooton (The Walking Dead). Nothing can prepare fans for the most-anticipated Invincible Universe showdown yet, landing in comic shops on May 20, 2026.

Battle Beast and Prince Salaka both stand on the precipice of winning their most important battles… but who is that looming in the sky above? Fans and collectors won’t want to miss this epic throwdown for fear of being conquered by a sellout at their comic book shop.

Invincible Universe: Battle Beast #9 will feature a main cover by Ryan Ottley and Annalisa Leoni plus a variant cover lineup including an open to order cover by Daniel Warren Johnson and Mike Spicer, a connecting 1:10 incentive variant by Chris Burnham and Brian Reber, a 1:25 incentive variant by Ludo Lullabi, a 1:50 incentive variant by Crom, a 1:100 incentive variant by John Amor, an open to order portrait cover by Ryan Ottley and Annalisa Leoni and a perfectly timed Invincible VS variant by art director Dan Eder featuring the iconic Conquest.

The Invincible Universe has never been hotter with season 4 of the hit animated series airing its unforgettable season finale this week on Prime Video, and it’s only heating up with the April 30 release of Skybound and Quarter Up’s brutal, tournament quality 3v3 tag fighting game Invincible VS. In an industry-first only available at comic shops, Invincible VS will be for sale in both Standard Edition (Lunar Code: 1225LD8011 | $59.99) and Collector’s Edition (Lunar Code: 1225LD8012 | $109.99) bundles that will feature an Invincible #1 variant cover with new art from Invincible co-creator Cory Walker. The Standard Edition also features direct market exclusive packaging with art from Cory Walker.
