A brutal, hilarious take on superheroes, debt, and consequences.
FWACATA today announced the launch of FUGLY, a new weekly webcomic premiering Tuesday, April 14 on Substack. FUGLY is a comedy-drama series set in a world of sponsored superheroes, mad scientist CEOs, incel vigilantes, and political war machines—where power is common, but accountability is not.
Enter FUGLY.
Working for the COLLECTION AGENCY, FUGLY enforces the one rule nobody escapes: if you owe, you pay. From washed-up sidekicks trying to keep a brand alive to cosmic-level threats and underground kingpins, FUGLY collects debts across every level of existence—with extreme prejudice.
“Superpowers didn’t fix anything—they just made everything louder,” says Juan Navarro, creator of FUGLY. “At the end of the day, somebody still has to collect. That’s where FUGLY comes in. It’s ugly, it’s funny, and it’s way too real.”
Blending the workplace absurdity of The Office with the sharp character-driven humor of Frasier, FUGLY moves between cosmic chaos and street-level brutality, following a crew of collection agents just trying to survive in a world where everyone has powers—but nobody wants to pay their bills.
Features and benefits of FUGLY include:
- A unique take on superhero culture through debt, consequences, and working-class reality
- A mix of dark comedy and brutal action with grounded, relatable characters
- Weekly episodic storytelling with ongoing arcs and expanding worldbuilding
FUGLY will be available starting April 14, 2026, with new episodes released every Tuesday on Substack. Readers can subscribe to never miss an issue, support the series, and gain access to exclusive content including original artwork.
