Capes #12 Brings the Invincible Universe Story to a Head This October

Fam, things are about to get real messy over at Capes, Inc.

Skybound and Image Comics just dropped a first look at Capes #12, and this one is coming in hot as the current story arc barrels toward its finale. Writer Benito Cereno, artist Mark Englert, colorist John, and letterer Rus Wooton are taking us deeper into one of the weirder corners of the Invincible Universe, and honestly, that is exactly where Capes should be living.

Bolt and Superball are staring down a full-blown disaster as the power of the medallion keeps unleashing new monstrosities. Now it is on them to rally the rest of CAPES, get everybody on the same page, and somehow keep the whole damn world from falling apart. Easy day at the office, right?

The real question is whether they can actually stop everything coming at them, because this issue is not exactly playing small. With the arc wrapping here, Capes #12 looks ready to bring some answers, throw a few more punches, and crack the door open for whatever madness comes next.

And that is not all, fam. Invincible co-creators Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, along with colorist Annalisa Leoni, are also wrapping up Ella Mental’s first solo adventure. So if you have been following her side of the universe, this issue is doing double duty.

The cover lineup is stacked too. Mark Englert handles the main cover, with additional open-to-order variants from Conor Hughes, Gleb Melnikov, Ito, and Sweeney Boo. Plenty of choices for the collectors who somehow convince themselves they are only buying “one copy.” Yeah, aight.

Meanwhile, the larger Invincible machine is still moving like a freight train. Season 4 of the Prime Video animated series became the show’s most-watched season to date, Season 5 is already in production for release next year, and Season 6 has already received an early renewal.

Capes #12 hits comic shops October 28, 2026.

The Invincible Universe clearly ain’t slowing down anytime soon, and if this finale sticks the landing, Capes, Inc. may be heading into an even crazier chapter next.
