Liam Sharp Returns to Savage Sword of Conan #18 for an 80-Page Special
·Al Mega

Conan fans, sharpen those blades because Titan Comics and Heroic Signatures are bringing Liam Sharp back to The Savage Sword of Conan, and they’re giving the man room to work. Issue #18 arrives January 13, 2027, as an 80-page black-and-white special, with Sharp writing and illustrating a massive 64-page sequel to his earlier story, “The Wuthering.” That’s not a little backup feature tucked into the back of a book. That’s a full-on barbarian-sized return.
Sharp has a visual style made for Conan’s world. His heavy shadows, intricate linework and larger-than-life compositions are exactly the kind of thing that can make a black-and-white comic feel more powerful than a page drenched in color. Seeing him take on both writing and art duties for a story of this length gives readers a chance to experience that storytelling without somebody constantly cutting away to a different creative voice.
The issue isn’t stopping with Conan, either. Writer John Arcudi and artist Leno Carvalho are bringing Robert E. Howard’s Bran Mak Morn into Titan’s current comics era for the first time. For longtime Howard readers, that’s a pretty significant addition. Conan may be the name on the marquee, but Howard’s wider world of ancient warriors, doomed kingdoms and brutal legends has plenty of stories worth digging into.
Arcudi has a long history of bringing character and grit to genre comics, while Carvalho’s art will introduce Bran Mak Morn to a new generation of readers. Pairing that feature with Sharp’s lengthy Conan story makes the issue feel like an anthology in the classic Savage Sword tradition rather than just another numbered release. That’s the format’s strength: different corners of sword-and-sorcery storytelling sharing the same oversized package.
There’s also a pin-up contest winner included in the issue, giving a fan artist a place alongside the professionals. Titan has announced cover artwork from Alex Horley and Liam Sharp, with six editions planned, including premium virgin cardstock and foil options. The standard 80-page issue is priced at $9.99, with virgin cardstock editions listed at $11.99 and foil editions at $19.99.
For collectors, those cover choices are there if that’s your thing. For readers, the real attraction is a 64-page Liam Sharp Conan story and a Bran Mak Morn feature from Arcudi and Carvalho. Give me great creators telling wild stories in glorious black and white, and I’m good. The book arrives in comic shops on Wednesday, January 13, 2027.
