Magnetic & Oni Press Unleash Peaceful Remission – A Mind-Bending New Graphic Novel From Scavengers Reign Visionary Jonathan Djob Nkondo!

WEPAAA, mi gente,  this one ain’t your regular “spaceships go pew-pew” sci-fi story. Oni Press and Magnetic Press are bringing readers Peaceful Remission, a bold, haunting new graphic novel written and drawn by Jonathan Djob Nkondo, the acclaimed animator and artist whose fingerprints are on Scavengers Reign, League of Legends, Love, Death & Robots, and Gorillaz animation.

Set inside a satellite asteroid home orbiting Earth, Peaceful Remission follows elderly couple Marlène and Jerry Nomo as one strange nighttime rumble cracks open something much deeper than a mystery. We’re talking emotional distance, long-term love, frustration, caregiving, silence, and all those little relationship earthquakes nobody posts about online.

Nkondo takes ordinary life, shopping, driving, worrying, loving somebody who makes you want to scream into a pillow and refracts it through a clean, surreal future that feels beautiful, sterile, and quietly devastating.

After more than 3,000 fans backed Nkondo’s graphic novels on Kickstarter, Peaceful Remission lands in comic shops and bookstores September 16. Clear some shelf space, Crusaders. This one’s got soul in the circuitry.
