WEPAAAA! THE CRUSADE IS BACK ON THE RACKS!
NYCC weekend may be in the books, but the spinner racks are not taking a vacation, fam. We have symbiotes, Spidey drama, giant robots, Gotham chaos, monstrous Marvel matchups and enough October horror to keep the lights on all night. These ten picks are about reader heat, fandom, creative teams, first issues, milestones and covers worth hunting, not some imaginary guarantee of resale riches.
Here is the Comic Crusaders Hot List for October 13th and 14th, 2026. All ten picks are scheduled for Wednesday, October 14. Support your local comic shop and check which variants your retailer actually has.
10. Wolverine: Paradise #1

Marvel Comics
Writer: Dan Panosian
Artist: Dan Panosian
Cover A: Dan Panosian
On Sale: October 14, 2026
Logan heads into Miami’s criminal underworld, with Dazzler in the mix and trouble waiting under all that sunshine. Panosian handling both script and art makes this feel like a distinctive creator-driven Wolverine detour instead of another interchangeable mini.
WHY IT’S HOT: New Wolverine #1, distinctive creative direction, Dazzler appearance and multiple variants.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Dan Panosian Cover A; Phil Noto’s foil variant is another collector option.
9. 12-Foot Skeleton #1

Ignition Press
Writer: Tim Seeley and Aaron Campbell
Artist: Ben Templesmith
Cover A: Ben Templesmith
On Sale: October 14, 2026
A twelve-foot Halloween lawn skeleton goes on a rampage. Come on, fam, how do you not at least pick that up and flip through it? The premise is ridiculous in the best possible way, while the creative team knows how to give a goofy hook genuine horror teeth.
WHY IT’S HOT: Indie discovery potential, Halloween timing, recognizable horror creators and an instantly memorable premise.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Ben Templesmith Cover A.
8. Ice Cream Man: Chocolate/Vanilla Twist #1

Image Comics
Writer: W. Maxwell Prince
Artist: Martín Morazzo and Chris O’Halloran
Cover A: Martín Morazzo and Chris O’Halloran
On Sale: October 14, 2026
This is the wonderfully weird pick of the week. The original issue returns in black and white with a new short story and an interactive decoder cover that literally hides the Ice Cream Man until you use the included lens. That’s a real physical-comic gimmick, not another empty foil announcement.
WHY IT’S HOT: Interactive cover, cult horror following, new bonus material and a return to the series’ roots.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Martín Morazzo and Chris O’Halloran interactive Cover A.
7. Universal Monsters: Frankenstein Black & White Special #1

Image Comics / Skybound
Writer: Michael Walsh
Artist: Michael Walsh
Cover A: Michael Walsh
On Sale: October 14, 2026
Michael Walsh’s Frankenstein work gets the black-and-white treatment, and October is the perfect time to let those shadows do their thing. This special revisits the opening chapters with the kind of stark presentation that makes horror art pop.
WHY IT’S HOT: Universal Monsters brand, seasonal horror readership and collectible black-and-white format.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Michael Walsh Cover A.
6. Infernal Hulk vs. Fantastic Four #1

Marvel Comics
Writer: Phillip Kennedy Johnson
Artist: Cian Tormey
Cover A: Nic Klein
On Sale: October 14, 2026
The Baxter Building is in the crosshairs, and Reed Richards’ Immaculate Engine might be the only thing keeping Infernal Hulk’s army from swallowing everything. Hulk versus the Fantastic Four is already a heavy-hitter matchup, but the supernatural angle gives it a nastier bite.
WHY IT’S HOT: Hulk War prelude, Fantastic Four crossover appeal and major-character conflict.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Nic Klein Cover A.
5. Batman: Bad Seeds – Streets of Gotham #1

DC Comics
Writer: Matt Fraction and Mariko Tamaki
Artist: Brian Ching, Gretel Lusky, Steve Lieber and others
Cover A: Javi Fernández
On Sale: October 14, 2026
Gotham gets hit with Poison Ivy’s superbloom, and this time the regular people have to survive the mess while the Bat-Family scrambles. Six street-level stories are a smart way to show how a citywide event hits folks who don’t own a Batmobile.
WHY IT’S HOT: Batman event tie-in, accessible one-shot format and a strong cover roster.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Javi Fernández Cover A; Dustin Nguyen’s cardstock variant deserves a look.
4. Radiant Black #44

Image Comics
Writer: Kyle Higgins and Joe Clark
Artist: Marcelo Costa
Cover A: Daniel Bayliss
On Sale: October 14, 2026
New arc, Chicago in crisis and the road to #50 officially heating up. The Massive-Verse has earned its following by building an actual world, not just throwing a logo on connected books. This is a good point for readers to check where Marshall’s story is headed.
WHY IT’S HOT: New story arc, approaching milestone #50 and committed Massive-Verse fans.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Daniel Bayliss Cover A.
3. Transformers #37

Image Comics / Skybound
Writer: Robert Kirkman
Artist: Karl Kerschl
Cover A: Jason Howard
On Sale: October 14, 2026
The Energon Universe is still one of the best reasons to hit the shop on Wednesday. Cybertron politics, Elita Prime and giant robots throwing down? Fam, that’s not a hard sell. The real hook is whether the story keeps rewarding the fans who have stayed locked in.
WHY IT’S HOT: Energon Universe readership, Cybertron developments and established collector demand.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Jason Howard Cover A.
2. Amazing Spider-Man #1001

Marvel Comics
Writer: Joe Kelly
Artist: Pepe Larraz
Cover A: Pepe Larraz
On Sale: October 14, 2026
A thousand issues in the rearview, and Peter Parker still can’t catch a break. Ravage is bringing the fight while Aunt May is stuck in the danger zone. That’s the kind of aftermath that keeps Spider-fans coming back after a milestone issue.
WHY IT’S HOT: Direct follow-up to #1000, Ravage storyline, Aunt May stakes and a deep variant lineup.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Pepe Larraz Cover A. Todd Nauck’s connecting legacy variant is also worth checking.
1. Venom #1

Marvel Comics
Writer: Charles Soule
Artist: Tommaso Bianchi
Cover A: Davide Paratore
On Sale: October 14, 2026
A fresh Venom #1 is always going to get the symbiote crowd talking. Soule and Bianchi have a major character and a clean jumping-on point, which is exactly the combination that brings lapsed readers back to the rack.
WHY IT’S HOT: Fresh first issue, major Marvel character, symbiote fandom and variant-cover interest.
RECOMMENDED COVER: Davide Paratore Cover A.
THAT’S YOUR HOT LIST, CRUSADERS! NYCC may have packed up, but the comic book heat doesn’t stop just because the convention floor goes quiet. Whether you’re chasing that first-print #1, following your favorite creators or discovering an indie book your shop barely ordered, remember why we do this in the first place: we LOVE comics. Talk to your local comic shop, support the creators putting in the work and tell us which of these ten you’re pulling this week. Keep the conversation loud, the collecting smart and the fandom fun. Until the next New Comic Book Day, stay geeky, stay passionate and keep that CRUSADE alive.
THE CRUSADE NEVER ENDS!
