Graphic Novel Pet Human Is Fully Funded

The Kickstarter “Project We Love” Unlocked New Stretch Goals within 36 Hours of its Release

Periscope Entertainment is proud to announce that its graphic novel Pet Human reached over 100% of its funding goal within 36 hours of its release through Kickstarter, and has been crowned a “Project We Love” by the crowdfunding platform. The project has unlocked stretch goals marked by additional milestones to fund a potential sequel.

Created by Periscope Entertainment’s David Guy Levy (Back to Back to the Future, The Mandela Effect, Would You Rather), Pet Human is a beautifully unbounded story about what life could be like as a pet in another world, and is inspired by Buster, Levy’s longtime pet dog and companion.

“We’re over the moon,” says Levy. “The response from backers has been incredible. The concept has captured people’s imaginations and the intricate artwork has everyone excited. We wanted every page to have the quality of a cover, and judging by people’s reactions, it paid off.”

Illustrated by Scottish artist and digital nomad Alex Heywood, it took two and a half years for Heywood and Levy to create Pet Human. “I was excited when David reached out and asked me to illustrate his story, and bring the Pet Human world to life,” says Heywood. “It was my first long term project as an artist and it fit perfectly with my style of drawing. I create dense, imaginative wildlife scenes in my art all the time, just for fun. Pet Human allowed me to create entire ecosystems, with curious creatures and in intricate detail. By drawing and travelling simultaneously, I am influenced by the nature around me, and it has been an inspiring way to illustrate this book.”

About David Guy Levy

Having been singled out by Variety for being a “Producer to Watch”, David Guy Levy has amassed a number of producing and directing credits in the 16 years since founding Periscope Entertainment.

In 2013, David directed and released his first scripted feature film with IFC Films/IFC Midnight, a psychological thriller called “Would You Rather”, which stars Brittany Snow, Jeffrey Combs, and Sasha Grey.  His most recent film “The Mandela Effect” was released by Gravitas Ventures in late 2019.

Since the formation of Periscope Entertainment, Levy has also helped produce such films as Azazel Jacob’s “Terri”, starring John C. Reilly, and Austin Chick’s “August”, starring Josh Hartnett. He also produced the documentary “Banking on Bitcoin” which was released in theaters and on-demand in 2017.

David also writes comic books, including the upcoming release “Pet Human” and the series “Back to Back to the Future”. It’s the story about what would happen if the makers of the “Back to the Future” films went back in time and made sure that Eric Stoltz was never replaced by Michael J. Fox as Marty McFly. It was released July 10, 2013 and all the proceeds go towards The Young Storytellers Foundation.
