Dead Howling Brings Zombies and Werewolves to FrightFest

·Al Mega

Zombies are bad enough, werewolves are worse, and somebody decided the smart move was to throw them both into the same post-apocalyptic nightmare. Dead Howling, directed by John V. Soto, is headed to Tubi FrightFest Halloween 2026 for its UK premiere on October 31 before arriving on digital, DVD and Blu-ray on November 2.

From producers associated with cult horror favorites Dog Soldiers and Terrifier 3, the new film promises a brutal collision between the undead and the damned. The cast includes Joel Jackson, Ryan Kwanten, Temuera Morrison and Tom Burlinson, giving the survival-horror premise some familiar faces.

The story unfolds in a world devastated by a zombie virus. Carter has built a solitary existence hunting the living dead, but everything changes when he saves two siblings, Megan and Billy, who are searching for a rumored safe zone. He reluctantly agrees to protect them, and the three set off on a journey that puts them in the path of increasingly dangerous enemies.

Those threats aren’t limited to the infected. Other survivors can be just as deadly, and the creatures roaming the wasteland appear to be evolving into something far more frightening. That’s where the zombie-versus-werewolf angle promises to give the familiar post-apocalyptic setup an extra bite.

What interests me about this premise is the uneasy relationship between the human characters. Carter starts as a man who has made peace with being alone, only to find himself responsible for two people who still believe a safer future might exist. That’s a solid emotional engine for a film built around monsters and survival.

The film will screen twice during Tubi FrightFest Halloween’s October 31 celebrations at London’s ODEON Luxe West End, with announced showtimes of 10:20 p.m. and 10:45 p.m. The home-entertainment release follows just two days later through Kaleidoscope Home Entertainment.

With a 103-minute runtime and a BBFC 15 classification, Dead Howling looks ready to deliver a fast-moving horror adventure. Whether the monster mash-up lives up to its premise remains to be seen, but the combination of zombies, werewolves and a dangerous wasteland is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
