Death Dealer Union Unleash Dark Sister and Premiere “Spellbound Machine”

Death Dealer Union is not easing anybody into this one. Dark Sister comes swinging like the band got tired of waiting for people to catch up and decided to drag the whole damn room into their world instead. The Los Angeles metal crew’s second album feels bigger, darker and way more locked in than a band just throwing songs at the wall to see what sticks. This thing has an identity, and it knows exactly what kind of damage it wants to do.

Produced by Max Morton, Dark Sister is built on heavy guitars, massive atmosphere and Kay Bellows sounding like she could command an army before breakfast. Doug Weiand on guitar, Brice Snyder on bass and CC McKenna on drums give the record the weight it needs, but Bellows is the one standing in the middle of the storm making sure you do not look away. The whole band sounds meaner, tighter and more theatrical without turning into some overproduced haunted-house attraction.

They are also moving with some real momentum right now. Death Dealer Union recently passed 30,000 monthly Spotify listeners, which is not exactly nothing in a metal scene where everybody and their cousin has a new single dropping every Friday. Now they are pushing the album with the “Spellbound Machine” video, directed by Margarita Monet with Fernando Cordero and Ian Porter behind the cameras. The visuals fit the music like they should, dark, dramatic and just twisted enough without feeling like somebody discovered fog machines yesterday.

“Spellbound Machine” follows “Cult of the Moonlight,” which kicked the door open on this chapter of the band. They also dropped a visual for “Dark Sister,” again directed by Monet, with Julian Oyanedel Santiesteban handling the filming. I like that there is an actual through-line here. Same mood. Same world. Same identity. Too many bands put out three videos that look like three completely different bands had custody of the same album. Death Dealer Union clearly understands presentation matters, especially when the music already has this much personality.

The band is taking that momentum straight onto the road after signing with DNA Entertainment Collective for global booking representation, working with Andrea Toler-Wade. The October run hits Club Congress in Tucson on October 4, the Bisbee Grand on October 6, The Viper Room in West Hollywood on October 8 for the official album release show, The Dive Bar in Las Vegas on October 10 and Transplants Brewing Company in Palmdale on October 12. If these songs hit live the way they hit on record, those rooms are about to get loud in a hurry.

Dark Sister is out now, and Death Dealer Union sounds like a band that finally understands exactly what it wants to be. Heavy, theatrical, melodic, dangerous and just weird enough to keep things interesting. You can find their music, socials and official links through their Linktree, with music and merchandise also available through the official Death Dealer Union website. Crank this one properly. Your neighbors will survive!
