Co-creators Ram V, Evan Cagle, and Anand “RK” Radhakrishnan are revealing a stunning sneak peek and details about their new graphic novel series, Deicidium, as first announced exclusively this week by The A.V. Club. The creators recently announced a groundbreaking six-figure book deal with French publisher Morgen for worldwide rights to publish the series, and a deal with Image Comics to publish it in English Language territories. Frequent co-collaborators V, Cagle, and RK are setting the stage on a global scale; the series will be published around the world simultaneously, with the goal of cultivating an international fan base. Esteemed editor Eric Harburn (Exquisite Corpses), who worked with V on the critically acclaimed book The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, is editing the graphic novel series. Volume 1 will hit shelves in late 2026 and there will be a Sneak Preview available at comic book shops on Free Comic Book Day this May.

Deicidium will span media and mediums, combining the strengths of V, Cagle, and RK’s lauded creations to date with disparate influences across comic books, Euro bandes dessinées, and Manga/manhwa into a singular vision of gods returning to Earth… and humanity’s need to destroy them. Fans of urban fantasy, epic sci-fi, world mythology, and character-driven action dramas will find a robust blend of these in Deicidium.
Featuring gorgeous black and white interiors, Deicidium is set in a future world governed by the marriage between Theocracies and Corporations. Worship is currency, faith is power. Welcome to the industry of belief. In this new found stability, old powers once more return to the world. Gods of fire, wind, volcanoes, jaguars—gods of mischief, stories, love and war—manifesting through everyday people. With the established hierarchy threatened, the powers that be decide to find these newly made gods and kill them. A conflict of control versus freedom. Love and worship. Born of the differing ideological ideas that those who can save us live above us versus those we love and admire will come, as they once did, from within us.
“Deicidium is a story borne out of my obsession with world mythologies and a desire to distinguish between the innocent power of stories and the power exercised by turning them into dogma,” said V. “Since that early thought, Deicidium has grown into an expansive world full of characters and conflicts that I’m having a great time exploring. And it is also a culmination of all of my ever changing influences over the years. Fantasy, sci-fi, philosophy, mythology, kinetic action and shonen-manga character dynamics—there’s a little bit of everything to be found in here and I cannot wait for readers to discover it.”
“I see every story as a chance to explore new artistic territory, and the world of Deicidium really demands a commitment to that approach to visual storytelling,” said Cagle. “The mix of competing cultures and religious influences, the globe-trotting tours of the ways people live in this future world, the character designs, the tech—all of it serves as a summon to dig deep into style and technique in order to create a unique visual language. My hope is that the art of Deicidium feels somehow both ancient and novel, just like the narrative to which it’s wed.”
“Deicidium will be my first foray into science fiction,” said RK. “We are also trying a different format this time around—black and white art with a slower release schedule. This gives Evan and me time to explore media and dive into the image-making process. I also plan to draw larger than usual and I personally look forward to drawing traditionally and spending time engaging with the art.”
V, who was nominated in the “Best Writer” category at the prestigious San Diego Comic-Con International Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards in 2025, is known for his psychologically-driven and genre-spanning titles often touching on deep existential themes of death, rebirth, and belief. V is particularly known for critically acclaimed and Eisner Award winning and nominated titles such as The One Hand and The Six Fingers, Rare Flavours, and The Many Deaths of Laila Starr, as well as Blue in Green with Radhakrishnan and Dawnrunner with Cagle. V is also popular for his work on DC titles such as The New Gods with Cagle, Resurrection Man: Quantum Karma with Radhakrishnan, and Swamp Thing.
A former animator and art director of video games, animation, film and TV, Cagle has amassed accolades from peers and fans for his unique, highly-detailed blend of classical illustration and cross-cultural visual storytelling. He is known for his award-winning cover artwork for titles such as Dune: House Atreides, Buffy The Vampire Slayer: The Chosen Ones (for which he won the ASFA Chesley), The Witcher, and Stranger Things, and his iconic Eisner Award nominated cover art work for Detective Comics during V’s run on the legendary series.
Radhakrishnan is an award-winning artist and illustrator with a fine art background, whose attention to detail and loose energetic inking results in a stunningly unique, organic and dynamic style. He has collaborated with V on many projects, including Grafity’s Wall, Radio Apocalypse and Batman: Urban Legends. Alongside his interior artwork, he is an accomplished cover artist, creating works for DC, BOOM! Studios, and Image Comics on titles such as The Deviant, The Department of Truth, The Nice House on the Lake, Swamp Thing, and more.
Deicidium, Vol. 1 trade paperback (ISBN: 9781534334953) will be available at local comic book shops on Wednesday, September 23 and independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-a-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones on Tuesday, October 20.
Deicidium will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Google Play, and Omnibus.
