Get ready to hear the howl echo across the comic book world, Crusaders — because a legendary monster is about to stalk the pages once again.
Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, teaming up with Universal Products & Experiences, have just dropped the news that horror fans have been waiting for: Universal Monsters: Blood of the Wolf Man, a brand-new four-issue limited comic series from the powerhouse creative team of Joshua Williamson (G.I. JOE, Superman) and artist Leomacs (Basketful of Heads, Rogues).
And trust us… this isn’t just another monster story.
The Wolf Man is back, and he’s bringing tragedy, terror, and raw emotional horror with him when the series hits comic shops in June 2026. Joshua Williamson—one of the biggest storytellers in comics right now—didn’t hold back when talking about what drew him to this legendary monster. As a massive fan of the classic 1941 Universal Pictures film The Wolf Man, Williamson said stepping into this world was something he couldn’t pass up. But don’t expect a typical superhero-style adventure. According to Williamson, this story dives deep into the darker side of horror—family pain, generational trauma, and the kind of emotional wounds that don’t heal easily.
And yes… it’s bloody.
Williamson describes the series as dramatic, emotional, heartbreaking, and packed with brutal horror that absolutely earns the title Blood of the Wolf Man. To bring that vision to life, he reunited with longtime collaborator Leomacs, whose haunting artwork perfectly captures the agony of a man battling the monster inside. And from the sounds of it, readers should brace themselves—because this story is going to go places fans won’t expect.
Leomacs echoed that passion for the character, explaining that Universal Monsters have always stood out because of the humanity hidden inside the horror. These creatures aren’t just terrifying — they’re tragic reflections of our own fears and flaws. For Leomacs, The Wolf Man has always been a personal favorite, making this project a dream come true. Teaming up with Williamson allows them to explore the Wolf Man’s unstoppable bloodlust and the devastating consequences that come with it.
At the heart of this new story is Adam Jaeger, a college student who thought heading off to school meant starting fresh and becoming someone new. He just didn’t expect to become… this. One night he’s partying with friends. The next, he wakes up surrounded by the aftermath of a massacre that left almost everyone dead. And the most horrifying possibility of all?
He might be the one who did it.
As the savage creature inside him struggles to break free, Adam fights desperately to keep control — because if he loses that battle, the world will meet something far worse than a troubled student.
It will meet THE WOLF MAN.
Skybound Senior Editor Diego Lopez says seeing Williamson and Leomacs reunite for this reimagining of the iconic monster has been incredible. According to Lopez, Williamson is expanding the Wolf Man mythology with deeply tragic storytelling, while Leomacs brings the gritty 1970s setting to life with intense, visceral artwork that pulls readers straight into the nightmare. And this is just the beginning.
Coming off the thrilling finale of Universal Monsters: Phantom of the Opera, Skybound is continuing its ambitious plan to deliver a new Universal Monsters comic every month, pairing some of the biggest creators in comics with the most legendary creatures in horror history.
This collaboration between Skybound and Universal Products & Experiences marks another milestone in a partnership that has been growing for nearly a decade, spanning film, video games, and comic publishing.
With Blood of the Wolf Man, the line adds its seventh Universal Monsters comic series, following fan-favorite hits like:
• Dracula by James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds
• Creature from the Black Lagoon Lives! by Ram V, Dan Watters, and Matthew Roberts
• Frankenstein by Michael Walsh
• The Mummy by Faith Erin Hicks
• The Invisible Man by James Tynion IV and DANI
• Phantom of the Opera by Tyler Boss and Martin Simmonds
And the monster revival is far from over.
Blood of the Wolf Man is just the next chapter in what’s becoming one of the most exciting horror comic lines in the industry, with even more Universal Monsters limited series on the way — each one bringing top comic creators together with the most iconic creatures in pop culture history.
One thing’s for sure, Crusaders…
When the moon rises in June 2026, the Wolf Man won’t just be howling.
He’ll be hunting. 🐺🌕
