WEPAAAA! Fifty years of 2000 AD? That’s a whole lot of Thrill-power, fam, and Rebellion isn’t celebrating quietly. The legendary British comics anthology is getting a two-day anniversary event in London on March 6–7, 2027, with special guests, original programming, merchandise and plenty of surprises planned.
The celebration takes over Protein Studios in Shoreditch, with Rebellion promising an immersive experience built around the comic’s past, present and future. The publisher says writers, artists and editors from across five decades will appear, although individual guests have not yet been announced.
First published in 1977, 2000 AD became a launching pad for some of the biggest names in comics and introduced readers to Judge Dredd, the satirical lawman created by John Wagner and Carlos Ezquerra. Its influence extends far beyond the weekly comic, with generations of creators taking inspiration from its unapologetically weird, sharp-edged storytelling.
Names associated with the publication over the years include Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, Brian Bolland, Grant Morrison, Garth Ennis, Mark Millar and Jock. That’s not a bad legacy for a comic that made a career out of being loud, inventive and a little dangerous.
Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley says the event will celebrate that history while looking ahead to new stories. Longtime editor Matt Smith likewise points to the anthology’s endurance as proof of the creative talent that has kept it alive for half a century.
Ticket sales begin with a limited subscriber early-bird release at 6 p.m. BST on October 29, 2026. Eligible subscribers are scheduled to receive unique purchase codes by email on October 27, with a limit of two tickets per code. General admission tickets go on sale at 6 p.m. GMT on November 5.
Rebellion also plans nationwide signings and related events leading into the London celebration. For fans of Dredd and the entire 2000 AD universe, this sounds like one hell of a birthday party. Crusaders, which classic 2000 AD character or creative team would you want to meet?
