The Rarely Seen Debut Series That Helped Launch Weaver’s Career Will Be Collected in Full and Unleashed for a New Generation in 2027

Before Dustin Weaver became the fan-favorite artist behind acclaimed projects like S.H.I.E.L.D., Avengers, Edge of Spider-Verse, Infinity Gauntlet, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, there was ASSASSINS’ GUILD, the cyberpunk action series that introduced the comics industry to his unmistakable visual style.

Now, this underground gem is coming out of hiding.

Image Comics will collect ASSASSINS’ GUILD in a stunning hardcover edition arriving in 2027. Written by Randy Taylor and illustrated by Weaver, the long-awaited collection brings together issues #0 through #4 of the rarely seen series, giving longtime fans the complete saga while opening the door for a whole new generation of readers.

Weaver’s work on ASSASSINS’ GUILD helped launch a career that would soon explode across the comics industry. His kinetic storytelling and detailed artwork eventually led to his eye-catching run on Marvel’s S.H.I.E.L.D. with writer Jonathan Hickman. Weaver later created variant covers for Hickman and Nick Pitarra’s Image Comics science-fiction miniseries The Red Wing before reuniting with Hickman for Marvel’s blockbuster Avengers run.

From there, Weaver continued leveling up with major projects including Edge of Spider-Verse, Infinity Gauntlet (2015), Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Paklis, Juniper Lodge, and 1949. ASSASSINS’ GUILD is where that journey started, and this hardcover finally gives the series the showcase it deserves.

“Assassins’ Guild is what caught the attention of publishers and helped launch my career,” said Weaver. “I’m thrilled to finally see it in this complete collection, looking better than ever, and on the shelves for a new generation of comics readers to discover.”

Set in a future where corporate power has swallowed America whole, ASSASSINS’ GUILD paints a brutal world where corruption is policy, violence is commerce, and human lives are just another expense on the company ledger. Basically, corporate greed cranked up until the knob breaks off.

Tactical officer Alex Dayne has spent his life serving that machine, but everything changes when he develops the one thing his employers cannot tolerate: a conscience.

The powerful Valentine Corporation immediately marks Alex for destruction. With his old life ripped away and nothing left to lose, he descends into the criminal underworld of New Washington, assembles a dangerous crew of outcasts, and launches a war against the corporate empire hunting him. His mission is not reform, negotiation, or some friendly boardroom intervention. Alex plans to assassinate the CEO and bring the entire machine crashing down.

Corporate dystopia, rogue operatives, underworld alliances, revenge, and enough cyberpunk heat to melt chrome? Wepaaaa, this one has been waiting in the shadows long enough.

The ASSASSINS’ GUILD hardcover collects issues #0 through #4 and carries the ISBN 978-1-5343-5173-8. It arrives at local comic book shops on Wednesday, January 20, 2027, followed by independent bookstores, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, Indigo, and Waterstones on Tuesday, February 16, 2027.

The collection will also be released digitally through Amazon Kindle, Google Play, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble Nook, Everand, Kobo, OverDrive, Hoopla, Comics Plus, Sweet, and additional digital platforms.

ASSASSINS’ GUILD helped put Dustin Weaver on the map. In 2027, Image Comics is giving readers a chance to return to where the killing, rebellion, and cyberpunk madness began. The corporate machine better watch its back because Alex Dayne is clocking in, and he is not coming to work quietly.
