Vault Turns Up the Heat With Corin Howell’s Lilith: Blood & Burlesque
The hit sapphic horror series returns this October with demon dogs, dangerous secrets, a bookstore fundraiser, and feelings Lilith can no longer ignore.
Vault is bringing back everybody’s favorite man-eating demon, and this time she is stepping into a story loaded with blood, burlesque, romance, and enough supernatural madness to tear through more than a few bookshelves.
Corin Howell’s hit horror series returns in Lilith: Blood & Burlesque, a brand-new comic continuing the story of Lilith and Penelope as they search for a way to send the banished immortal back home. Howell returns as writer and artist, joined by colorist Warnia Sahadewa and letterer Haley Rose-Lyon. The new chapter picks up shortly after the conclusion of the first series, but Lilith’s journey home is about to run into one hell of a detour.
“Blood and Burlesque follows Lilith shortly after the end of our first chapter,” Howell said. “Her journey home hits a snag when Penelope’s shop is in trouble, leading to sexy pinup calendars and pink princess pilates! But there’s a shadow on the horizon in the shape of old faces from Lilith’s past, including demon dogs and a massive masked monster butler. But that’s nothing compared to Lilith’s biggest hurdle: facing her growing feelings for Penelope.”
Yeah, you read that right. Demon dogs, a masked monster butler, sexy calendars, and pink princess pilates are all part of the mix. Somehow, the thing giving Lilith the biggest problem is not the creatures chasing her or the secrets catching up with her. It is the fact that she may actually care about somebody.
Lilith began as an original character created by Howell and quickly became a genuine social media phenomenon. Illustrations of the seductive, sharp-toothed demon earned millions of likes across Howell’s platforms, turning Lilith into one of the most recognizable independently created characters online. In 2024, Howell partnered with Vault to bring Lilith into comic shops, where the series became an immediate critical and commercial hit, selling out multiple printings. Not bad for a demon who spends most of her time pretending to be a model while secretly treating humans like an all-you-can-eat buffet.
For readers joining the madness for the first time, Lilith is an immortal who has been banished from a dimensional plane that looks suspiciously similar to humanity’s idea of Hell. Trapped on Earth, she survives by posing as a model while keeping her true nature hidden and preying on unsuspecting people. Her situation changes when she crosses paths with Penelope, the sweet owner of a bookstore and the keeper of a mysterious tome that may contain the secret to returning Lilith home.
The relationship between the two women quickly becomes more complicated than either expected. Penelope may be Lilith’s best chance of escaping Earth, but she is also becoming someone Lilith genuinely cares about. That was never part of the plan, and for a creature who is comfortable dealing with blood, monsters, and death, emotions may be the one thing she has no idea how to handle.
Lilith: Blood & Burlesque picks up after a monster attack leaves Penelope’s bookstore badly damaged and in desperate need of repairs. Michael comes up with a fundraising idea that is either brilliant, ridiculous, or probably both: create a sexy pinup calendar. Lilith is not exactly thrilled, but when the bills are stacking up and the shelves are falling apart, dignity may have to take a quick lunch break.
While the bookstore crew prepares to raise money through calendars and an aggressively pink pilates routine, Lilith and Penelope continue translating the mysterious book that could finally open a path home. Their progress brings Lilith closer to achieving the goal she has chased since arriving on Earth, but it also creates a much bigger problem. Penelope still does not know the truth about Lilith, her violent appetite, or the real reason she needs the book. Those secrets are not going to stay buried forever.
A sinister and seductive pair from Lilith’s past is preparing to emerge during a burlesque performance, bringing old threats back into her life at the worst possible moment. Between demon dogs, a towering masked monster, a damaged bookstore, hidden motives, and romantic feelings that are getting harder to deny, Lilith’s problems are piling up faster than the repair bills.
Lilith: Blood & Burlesque looks ready to build on everything that made the original series connect with readers. The horror remains front and center, but the story also leans into comedy, sensuality, romance, and the increasingly complicated bond between Lilith and Penelope. That mix gives the series its personality and keeps it from becoming just another monster story with pretty covers.
Lilith may be immortal, powerful, and perfectly comfortable tearing through anyone who gets in her way, but vulnerability is a different kind of enemy. Monsters can be fought. Secrets can be hidden. Feelings have a way of kicking the door down whether you are ready or not.
Lilith: Blood & Burlesque #1 arrives in comic book shops everywhere this October. The debut issue will feature a stacked lineup of variant covers from Mirka Andolfo, Suspiria, Luana Vecchio, Chloe, Garth Graham, and more.
The calendar may be sexy, the burlesque show may be dangerous, and the monsters may be closing in, but the biggest question remains painfully human. Will Lilith finally admit what Penelope means to her, or will her secrets destroy everything before she gets the chance?
