Event Horizon: Pandemonium Opens the Gates to Heaven, and It’s Worse Than Hell

Christian Ward and Hernán González unleash the terrifying final chapter of IDW’s bestselling Event Horizon comic trilogy this December.
Heaven is real.
Unfortunately, it may be even worse than Hell.
IDW Publishing is preparing to rip open the gates of the Chaos Realm one final time with EVENT HORIZON: PANDEMONIUM, the shocking conclusion to its bestselling comic book trilogy inspired by Paramount Pictures’ cult-classic sci-fi horror nightmare.
Arriving in comic shops this December through IDW’s horror imprint, IDW Dark, the new series comes from Eisner Award-winning writer Christian Ward, the twisted mastermind behind the acclaimed Event Horizon prequel and sequel comics.
This time, Ward is joined by horror artist Hernán González, known for his work on John Carpenter’s Tales for a Halloween Night. Together, they are taking readers deeper into the darkness, expanding the mythology of the 1997 film into horrifying new dimensions where machinery, monsters, familiar faces, and shattered souls collide.
Yeah, fam, apparently that gravity drive opened a whole lot more than a shortcut through space.

EVENT HORIZON: PANDEMONIUM reunites characters from across the nightmarish saga for a finale packed with chaos, terror, major revelations, and twists designed to change how fans see the original film.
Ward explained that this conclusion was never an afterthought. It was the destination from the beginning.
“It’s been such a huge honor to have been trusted with this beloved property that means so much to so many, myself included,” Ward said.
When IDW editor Nicolas Niño originally invited him to pitch a take on Event Horizon, Ward’s plans quickly grew beyond the prequel series, EVENT HORIZON: DARK DESCENT.
“I pitched a trilogy that would take even wilder swings and make fans look at the 1997 film in a completely different way, and PANDEMONIUM was always the end goal,” Ward continued. “Myself and the incredible artist Hernán González are taking you even deeper into the Chaos Realm. Event Horizon will never be the same ever again. All roads have been leading us here… to Heaven!”
Calling Heaven the final destination in an Event Horizon story already sounds suspicious as hell. No choir, no pearly gates, and probably no complimentary robe waiting at check-in.
González is equally ready to unload every terrifying weapon in his artistic arsenal.
“I’ve been drawing comics for several years and have always loved the horror genre,” González stated. “I feel truly honored to be able to bring to life everything I love through my drawings: monsters, modern machinery, specifically from the ’90s, complex page layouts, and, above all, the darkness of the soul.”
He added an Argentine expression that perfectly captures the team’s approach to the finale: “Time to put all the meat on the grill!”
Translation? They are holding absolutely nothing back.
Readers looking to enter the Chaos Realm before the grand finale will have several opportunities to catch up. The complete prequel story, EVENT HORIZON: DARK DESCENT, goes on sale July 28 wherever books are sold.
The sequel series, EVENT HORIZON: INFERNO, is currently unfolding, with its first three issues available in comic shops and issue #4 scheduled to arrive August 5.
EVENT HORIZON: PANDEMONIUM launches this December, with comic shop pre-orders due October 19.
Contact your local comic shop and reserve a copy before the order deadline. Because missing this finale might not open a portal to the Chaos Realm, but do you really want to take that chance?
