Jason Aaron and Aaron Kuder launch a globe-trotting five-issue adventure set after Raiders of the Lost Ark, bringing Indy and Marion Ravenwood face-to-face with an ancient power that should have stayed buried.
Marvel Comics just pulled off one of San Diego Comic-Con’s biggest surprises. Indiana Jones is officially returning to comics this December in INDIANA JONES AND THE SWORD OF PANDEMONIUM, a five-issue limited series from writer Jason Aaron and artist Aaron Kuder.
Announced during the Lucasfilm Publishing Panel on July 24, 2026, the series launches a new era of comic book adventures set during the timeline of the original Indiana Jones films.
Yeah, fam. The fedora is back. The whip is cracking. Somebody is absolutely about to ignore a giant warning carved into an ancient wall.
Set in the aftermath of Raiders of the Lost Ark, the story finds Indy’s most dangerous enemies scrambling to recover from their defeat. Their plan involves a terrifying new source of power, a biblical weapon that has somehow fallen into the hands of Marion Ravenwood. That puts Indy and Marion right back in the middle of a deadly race across the globe.

Ancient crypts, impossible traps, shadowy enemies, supernatural threats, and probably at least one moment where Indy looks at the madness around him like, “Why does this keep happening to me?”
The adventure will test everything that makes Indiana Jones an icon. His knowledge of archaeology, his instincts under pressure, his stubborn skepticism, and his ability to survive situations that would fold a normal human being like a cheap lawn chair.
Jason Aaron has wanted to write Indiana Jones since childhood, and he is approaching the series with the same excitement he brought to Marvel’s Star Wars #1 in 2015.
“This is the Indy of Raiders of the Lost Ark, fresh off his harrowing experience on the island of Geheimhaven,” Aaron said. He teased new enemies rising from the shadows and promised plenty of globe-trotting, punching, whip-cracking, death-defying action for Indy and Marion.
Aaron Kuder also shared his excitement about bringing the legendary adventurer back to comics, calling Indiana Jones a character who has always felt like a natural fit for the medium. And he is absolutely right.
Indiana Jones was built for comics. Every hidden temple becomes a splash page. Every collapsing bridge becomes a cliffhanger. Every artifact comes with a curse, three double-crosses, and at least one dude who should have minded his business.

The announcement follows Marvel’s reveal of Indiana Jones: The Further Adventures Book I and Book II, two deluxe hardcover collections bringing the character’s classic 1980s Marvel adventures back into print this September.
Marvel is also rolling out serious cover firepower for the new series. Bryan Hitch provides the main cover, Alex Ross delivers a variant, and Kuder contributes the first piece of a five-part connecting cover set. More variant-cover announcements are expected in the months ahead.
INDIANA JONES AND THE SWORD OF PANDEMONIUM is more than a nostalgic return. It is the beginning of a fresh chapter for one of pop culture’s greatest adventurers, told by creators who understand that Indy works best when history, danger, humor, and the supernatural come crashing together.
The Nazis lost the Ark.
Now somebody has found another biblical weapon.
And Indiana Jones is about to remind the world that some treasures are better left buried.
