After tearing it up on Transformers, delivering the Eisner Award-winning emotional body slam that was Do A Powerbomb, and keeping readers locked in with The Moon Is Following Us, superstar writer/artist Daniel Warren Johnson is blasting into deep space with his next major Image Comics series: Chainkata.
At the center of this wild new ride is Luma, a chainsaw-wielding warrior queen searching the stars for an unknown power. She wants peace, but violence keeps chasing her through the cosmos like it owes rent. This series promises big sci-fi spectacle, brutal action, and the kind of heart Johnson has made his signature.
Image Comics is already lining up a major promotional push for Chainkata at San Diego Comic-Con, setting the stage for one of the year’s most anticipated launches.
Johnson says the idea began with a first sketch of Luma back in 2017, and after nine years of development, Chainkata is finally ready to hit stands. The chain awaits, mi gente. Better bring gloves.
Chainkata #1 will be available at comic book shops in November 2026.
Chainkata #1 will also be available across many digital platforms, including Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, and Google Play.
