Blood & Thunder #19: Skybound’s Cosmic Outlaws Can’t Catch a Damn Break!

·Al Mega

Somebody tell Skybound and Image Comics that these poor bastards need a vacation! Blood & Thunder #19 is gearing up for another round of intergalactic madness, and apparently, taking a quick break in space is a luxury nobody can afford. Blood, Thunder, and their newest partner in chaos, Deuce, are running around the galaxy like they owe somebody serious money. Meanwhile, the creative team is making damn sure readers have plenty of reasons to enjoy the ride.

Skybound just dropped a first look at the interiors and variant covers for issue #19, and E.J. Su is bringing that slick sci-fi energy back to the page. There’s something about a universe filled with aliens, criminals, bounty hunters, and questionable life choices that makes you appreciate the simplicity of Earth. Then again, have you seen the news lately? Maybe space isn’t such a bad option after all!

Writer Benito Cereno (Invincible Presents: Atom Eve) teams up with artist E.J. Su (Tech Jacket), colorist MsassyK (Gotham Academy), and letterer Rus Wooton (Transformers), with Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) serving as co-creator. That’s a crew that understands how to deliver a comic with personality, attitude, and enough cosmic insanity to keep things moving without turning every page into a science lecture.

The real comedy here is that Blood just wants a damn break! A little fuel, some information, maybe five minutes without somebody trying to ruin her day. Is that too much to ask? Apparently, yes! Middleditch and Retiq are out there plotting their next move, and I seriously doubt they’re organizing a surprise birthday party. This is the kind of beautiful nonsense that makes comics fun, familia. Sometimes you just want outrageous characters, wild situations, and a talking gun that probably has more common sense than half the people running the galaxy.

Now let’s talk about those covers, because collectors already know the drill. E.J. Su and Dee Cunniffe handle the main cover, while Rod Reis and Dillon Snook bring their own flavor with open-to-order variants. Brandt&Stein round things out with a 1:25 incentive cover. Four different ways to make your wallet cry, and you know somebody out there is already figuring out how to grab every single one!

What makes Blood & Thunder worth keeping an eye on is its willingness to embrace the ridiculous possibilities of science fiction. A bounty hunter named Akeldama “Blood” Bledsoe, a talking gun named Thunder, aliens living alongside humanity, and enough criminal activity to make the entire galaxy look like Times Square at three in the morning. That’s comic book entertainment, baby! Give me imagination, personality, and creators willing to have some fun with the medium.

Blood & Thunder #19 arrives at comic book shops and digital platforms November 11, 2026, for $3.99. A brand-new story arc, fresh artwork, and a whole lot of cosmic trouble await. Just remember, familia, if somebody offers you a quick pit stop in outer space, keep the engine running!
