Dread the Hall H 2026: Image Comics and Syzygy Publishing Unleash the Horror Next Week!

The lines are longer, the panels are wilder, and even the ads might try to kill you in Image Comics and Syzygy Publishing’s oversized new one-shot.
Con-goers, secure those badges, charge those phones, pack the snacks, and prepare for absolute madness because Dread the Hall H is back—and this convention might be deadlier than fighting for the final exclusive on the show floor!
The annual spin-off of the bestselling Dread the Halls returns with Dread the Hall H 2026, a 48-page, full-color explosion of convention horror, sharp satire, and beautifully unhinged fandom chaos. The oversized one-shot arrives in comic shops on July 22, 2026, from Syzygy Publishing and Image Comics.
Eisner and Harvey Award-nominated writer Jordan Hart (Ripple Effects) once again joins forces with Syzygy Publishing founder Chris Ryall (Francis Ford Coppola’s Megalopolis) to drag readers inside the wonderfully weird pressure cooker known as convention culture. You already know the vibe: endless lines, impossible panels, rabid collectors, overpriced snacks, aching feet, and somebody nearly starting an international incident over a limited-edition variant. Now imagine all that energy with the horror dial snapped clean off.
Featuring interior artwork by Luana Vecchio, C.P. Wilson III, Marianna Ignazzi, and Tom Williams, the anthology takes everything fans love—and occasionally fear—about conventions and transforms it into something much darker. Collectors are pushed beyond their breaking points, fandom mutates into obsession, and the excitement of the show floor slowly spirals into complete chaos. Basically, it is all fun and games until somebody loses their badge—or their soul.
Every story taps into the excitement, anxiety, absurdity, and strange communal magic of convention season. It is satire created by people who clearly love this culture but also understand how quickly the hunt for panels, exclusives, autographs, and collectibles can turn otherwise reasonable adults into creatures fueled entirely by caffeine and FOMO. Ay, bendito!
Collectors will have their own glorious nightmare to navigate thanks to a stacked lineup of covers from Maria The Wolf, Luana Vecchio, and Jordan Hart, along with a 1:10 sketch photo variant by Tony Fleecs and a wildly ambitious 1:20 variant by Zach Howard.
Howard’s cover crams all seven of legendary Hall of Fame editor Carmine Infantino’s “7 Things Guaranteed to Sell a Comic” into one beautifully ridiculous image: gorillas, motorcycles, dinosaurs, cities on fire, purple skies, time rifts, and plenty of “cryin’ and dyin’.” That is not merely a cover, familia—that is an entire comic convention having a nervous breakdown in one frame.
Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con 2026 can take the madness beyond the printed page during the “Dread the Hall H 2026: More (Fictional) Comic Convention Horror Stories” panel on Saturday, July 25, from 5:00–6:00 PM PDT in Room 23ABC.
Ryall and Hart will be joined by cover artist Maria The Wolf and interior artist Chris Anderson for a spirited conversation filled with convention stories—some real, some fictional, and probably a few so wild nobody will know the difference.
Because almost every convention veteran has experienced the joy and agony of trying to enter an oversold panel, the discussion promises to celebrate both sides of the experience: the unforgettable moments that make conventions special and the logistical nightmares that make fans question every decision that brought them there. You waited six hours, the room filled up three people ahead of you, and now you are reconsidering your entire existence. Yeah, this comic understands your pain.
Every panel attendee will also receive a free, one-of-a-kind Dread the Hall H enamel pin while supplies last. Translation: get there early, because convention exclusives disappear faster than personal space on Saturday afternoon.
Equal parts horror anthology, convention satire, and genuine love letter to fandom, Dread the Hall H 2026 is built for everyone who has camped out for a panel, sprinted toward an exclusive, survived a packed show floor, or watched convention excitement cross the line into beautiful insanity. Fans of Ice Cream Man and The Department of Truth should absolutely put this one on their pull lists.
Dread the Hall H 2026 arrives in comic shops on Wednesday, July 22, 2026. Fans attending San Diego Comic-Con from July 23–26 can also find the one-shot at the Image Comics Booth #1915.
Grab the book, protect your badge, keep an eye on the advertisements, and remember the first rule of convention survival: if the gorilla rides through a time rift on a motorcycle while the city burns beneath a purple sky, do not stop to take a selfie. Keep it moving, fam!
