·Al Mega

WEPAAAAAAAAAAAA! WHAT’S GOOD, MY FELLOW CRUSADERS?! Halloween is creeping up, the comic shops are about to get invaded, and this week’s releases are looking DIABOLICAL! We’re ranking collector appeal, real character milestones, creative talent and those indie gems you might miss while everybody fights over a foil Batman cover. This is about loving comics, not pretending any issue is a guaranteed investment.
#10. The Beast of Borikén #3

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics / Tiny Onion | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Julio Anta | Artist: Daniel Irizarri | Colorist: Patricio Delpeche | Letterer: Lucas Gattoni
Cover A: Daniel Irizarri | Cover B: Pablo León
HOT METER: 4/5
RECOMMENDED COVER: Daniel Irizarri Cover A
WHY IT’S HOT: BORICUA POWER, BABY! We’re starting on the island, and this isn’t a throwaway diversity pick. Julio Anta’s supernatural tale puts Puerto Rico’s land, people and mythology at the heart of the action. Loli Flores is caught between the island’s real-world tensions and a frightening folkloric force. Chupacabra energy with something to say? That’s a comic worth supporting. Forget waiting for a resale spike. Discover the talent now, while the story is unfolding.
#9. Minor Threats: Welcome to Twilight – Villains and Vignettes #1

Publisher: Dark Horse Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writers: Mark Waid, Patton Oswalt, Jordan Blum, Scott Hepburn
Artists: Scott Kolins, Mike Mignola, Cary Nord
Cover A: Scott Hepburn | Cover B: Joe Quinones
HOT METER: 4/5
RECOMMENDED COVER: Scott Hepburn Cover A
WHY IT’S HOT: The villains are back in the spotlight, and thank goodness because the heroes have been hogging all the good press! This fresh #1 opens another door into the weird, character-driven Minor Threats universe. The attraction isn’t an imaginary key issue. It’s the chance to discover a superhero world that doesn’t behave like every other superhero world. Give the underdogs their flowers!
#8. Godzilla: Revenge of the Deadzone #1

Publisher: IDW Publishing | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writers: Ethan S. Parker and Griffin Sheridan | Artist / Cover A: Pablo Tunica | Letterer: Thomas Williams
Variant Cover Artists:
Cover B: Kevin Anthony Catalan | Cover C: Elizabeth Beals | Cover D: Martín Morazzo
HOT METER: 4/5
WHY IT’S HOT: CALL THE INSURANCE COMPANY! THE BIG LIZARD IS BACK! IDW’s Kai-Sei Era keeps expanding, and another first issue is a tempting entry point for readers who want kaiju madness without hunting down an entire back catalog. Godzilla fans are dedicated collectors, and a new chapter in this monster-filled universe gives them another reason to stomp into their local shop.
#7. Universal Monsters: The Bride of Frankenstein Lives #1

Publisher: Image Comics / Skybound | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Kelly Thompson | Artist: Mattia De Iulis
HOT METER: 4.5/5
WHY IT’S HOT: HALLOWEEN WEEK AND THE BRIDE RETURNS? C’MON, MAN! Kelly Thompson and Mattia De Iulis are an exciting combination for a horror story that needs more than jump scares and familiar monster branding. This is exactly the kind of seasonal debut that should attract both longtime Universal Monsters fans and readers who appreciate atmospheric, character-driven comics. Horror belongs on your pull list all year, but this timing is delicious.
#6. Star Wars: Rogue One – Darth Vader #1

Publisher: Marvel Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Chris Condon | Artist: Luke Ross
HOT METER: 4.5/5
WHY IT’S HOT: THE DARK LORD DOESN’T NEED AN INVITATION, FAM! Vader is getting a Rogue One anniversary spotlight, and Chris Condon with Luke Ross is a pairing worth watching. Some fans collect every Vader appearance; others just want a good standalone Star Wars story. Either way, this is one of the week’s most recognizable character draws, and you don’t need a manufactured first-appearance rumor to justify picking it up.
#5. Batman: Bad Seeds – Gotham General #1

Publisher: DC Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Greg Rucka | Artists: Steve Lieber and Rosa Ekedal | Colorists: Patricio Delpeche
Cover A: Rosa Ekedal | Cover B: Javier Fernández | Cover C: Mitch Gerads
HOT METER: 4.5/5
RECOMMENDED COVER: Rosa Ekedal Cover A
WHY IT’S HOT: GOTHAM CITY NEEDS THERAPY! Greg Rucka’s involvement gives this Bad Seeds launch a compelling pedigree, and a story looking beyond the cape has the potential to make Gotham feel dangerous in a different way. The city is always at its best when it feels lived-in, not merely like Batman’s personal punching bag. A two-issue launch tied to a bigger story makes this a worthy radar pick.
#4. The Amazing Spider-Man #1002

Publisher: Marvel Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Joe Kelly | Artist: Pepe Larraz
HOT METER: 4.5/5
VARIANT TO WATCH: Todd Nauck connecting legacy variant
WHY IT’S HOT: PETER PARKER CAN’T CATCH A DAMN BREAK! Barely past the #1000 milestone, Spidey’s already dealing with Ravage and the kind of personal fallout that makes his best stories hurt. Joe Kelly and Pepe Larraz have a lot to play with, especially if this chapter delivers meaningful clues about Ravage. Fans following the connecting-cover set have an extra collector angle, but the real hook is the story.
#3. DC All In Saga: Darkseid vs. the World #1

Publisher: DC Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writers: Scott Snyder and Joshua Williamson | Artists: Sanford Greene and Yasmine Putri
HOT METER: 5/5
WHY IT’S HOT: DARKSEID DOESN’T DO SMALL PROBLEMS! DC’s All In saga has been building toward universe-level consequences, and this one-shot is positioned to pull readers into the larger picture. Scott Snyder, Joshua Williamson and Sanford Greene are among the talent associated with this release. Is it destined to become an essential key? Read the pages before you declare victory, collectors! The stakes are enough to put it high on the list.
#2. Absolute Wonder Woman #25

Publisher: DC Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Kelly Thompson | Artist: Hayden Sherman | Colorist: Jordie Bellaire | Letterer: Becca Carey
Cover A: Hayden Sherman and Jordie Bellaire
HOT METER: 5/5
RECOMMENDED COVER: Hayden Sherman gatefold triptych Cover A
WHY IT’S HOT: ABSOLUTE CHEETAH HAS ENTERED THE CHAT! Diana’s search for Barbara Minerva takes a bloody turn in the Heretic arc, and DC is promoting this issue as the debut of Absolute Cheetah. That’s a real milestone, not something a random spec account invented for clicks. The creative team has made this universe feel like its own beast, and a major villain debut in issue #25 gives readers and collectors something substantial to discuss. The Babs Tarr glow-in-the-dark variant is another fun choice, but my money goes to the main creative team’s vision.
#1. Absolute Batman #25

Publisher: DC Comics | On sale: October 28, 2026
Writer: Scott Snyder | Artist: Nick Dragotta | Colorist: Frank Martin | Letterer: Clayton Cowles
Cover A: Nick Dragotta
Variant artists include:
J. Scott Campbell, Greg Capullo, Bryan Hitch, Jonboy Meyers, Gabriele Dell’Otto and Lewis LaRosa
HOT METER: 5/5
RECOMMENDED COVER: Nick Dragotta gatefold triptych Cover A
WHY IT’S HOT: BATMAN WALKED INTO THE ROOM AND TOOK OVER THE WHOLE DAMN LIST! Twenty-five issues into this Absolute Universe run and the stakes are still sky-high. DC’s giant variant program will give cover hunters plenty to argue about, but the main Dragotta gatefold has a special appeal because it reflects the artist’s role in defining this Batman’s visual identity. Don’t let the foil frenzy distract you from the story. This is our number one for its combination of milestone status, readership attention and collector conversation.
THERE YOU HAVE IT, MY FELLOW CRUSADERS! Ten comics, a stack of reasons to visit your local shop, and enough Halloween-week chaos to make your pull list sweat. Support indie creators, read beyond the obvious superhero names, and buy what YOU love. Collecting is supposed to be FUN, not a second mortgage! Until next week, keep reading, keep collecting, and remember: THE CRUSADE NEVER ENDS!
WEPAAAAAAAAAAAA!
