G.I. JOE and Tomb Raider Collide in a Historic Crossover Event This October

Skybound and Image Comics, teaming with Hasbro and Crystal Dynamics, just dropped the kind of crossover news that makes collectors sit up straight: G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero is officially crossing paths with Tomb Raider for the first time ever.

Readers of G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero #330 got hit with the big surprise as Lara Croft made her debut inside the world of the Joes, infiltrating Castle Destro and setting the stage for something much larger.

That mission continues on October 7, 2026, with G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1, the launch of a five-issue limited series starring Lara Croft alongside the Joes. The creative team includes writer Kyle Higgins, artist Elena Casagrande, colorist Alex Guimarães, and letterer Pat Brosseau.

The story sends Lara to Cobra Island in search of the mysterious Arbco Star, with Shipwreck and multiple Joe squads backing her up while Destro and Baroness try to claim the treasure first. Translation? Trouble with a capital “Yo.” Knowing is half the battle. Raiding is clearly the other half.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero/Tomb Raider #1 features a main cover by Elena Casagrande & Alex Guimarães, an open-to-order variant and Foil cover by Stjepan Sejic, a 1:25 incentive variant that kicks off a “Classic Joe” cover series by Chris Mooneyham, a 1:50 variant by Leirix, a 1:100 incentive variant by Lorenzo Tammetta & Mike Spicer and a blank sketch variant.

G.I. JOE: A Real American Hero from writer Larry Hama, artists Chris Mooneyham, Paul Pelletier, Andrew Krahnke, Tony Kordos, & colorist Francesco Segala is a cornerstone of the historic collaboration between Skybound and Hasbro, alongside the shared Energon Universe that features ongoing series Void Rivals by writer Robert Kirkman (Invincible, The Walking Dead) and artist Conor Hughes (White Ash), TRANSFORMERS by writer Robert Kirkman and artist Jason Howard (The Astounding Wolf-Man), G.I. JOE by writer Joshua Williamson (Superman, Dark Ride) and artist Andrea Milana (Cobra Commander), and the new fourth Energon Universe title, M.A.S.K. by writer Dan Watters (Nightwing), artist Pye Parr (Petrol Head). Fans should expect can’t-miss moments from every issue of the Energon Universe, as secrets are unveiled along the path to answering the BIG questions from some of the biggest franchises in comics today.
